Irony is, the poisoned status (I forget if all poison causes it) causes Disadvantage on attack rolls. So even if concentration wasn't broken and your health above 0, you would have been right back where you started. One round later. The treatment of True Strike in 5e saddens me.

"I could've killed him, but instead I wasted a turn fantasizing about hitting him and I got wrecked" I think thats my favorite line from the show
  • @bendystrawz2832
"Most people can't kill someone in a single hit anyways." "I respec'd my sorcerer into somewhat of a nuker."
  • @WhyYouMadBoi
Everyone was talking about true strike but he says "My blade ward ready" meaning he had both Blade ward and true strike in the same horrible build.
  • @Mage-7734
"The warlock whiffed an eldritch blast into a dusty couch" still gets me every time
  • @BM03
This is a story about how a man April Fooled his own build by accident with a damn near joke of a spell.
  • @LunarFurorGames
All they needed to do was say your next attack has advantage, instead of your next round. Then sorcs could quicken this and get some actual use out of it.

“Time to die, Skorponae” I don’t know why I love this so much
  • @novametals7266
It makes me laugh that on his head band says dragon in draconic
  • @TheDragonStream
Ah, so True Strike in itself is the April Fool's prank. Expertly done.

I cast True Strike sometimes. Generally when I’m going over imaginary arguments in my head while taking a shower.

Some tweaks have emerged over and over in the comments this would be my advice on those takes: Make it a bonus action This would mean advantage every attack which makes it way too good for a cantrip. Make it a touch spell so you could give it to others This sounds good, a kind of remote help spell, then at least you get to see the result same round. Everyone gets advantage against that target for the round I think Faerie fire probably does this better? Let it give a flat bonus I'd say bless and bardic inspiration already do this. Auto-hit next attack Seems intensely powerful I'd say if you do this it'd have to eat a higher level spell slot. 3rd level? it also makes the targeted opponent have disadvantage against you Oooh that's clever, I definitely like that more.

I always felt that true strike would only be good with a high level spell you don't want to miss
  • Ture stirke is the definition of "if you think during combat, you're gonna get hit and die"
  • @tsherman44
I picked True Strike unironically on my 5e Sorceror. I regret nothing. I've also never used it even once.
  • @Grease-Goblin
Video title: TRUE STRIKE! Me: There's no way he's going to be able to find a way to convince me it's worth using. Three Minutes and forty-six seconds later: Pretty accurate, yeah.
  • @brysonorosa632
I modify it in my campaigns so that true strike, in addition to it's base effect, also reveals the remaining HP of the target as well as it's vulnerabilities and resistances.
  • @thewerdna
I still remember when in earlier editions True Strike was a 1st level spell and just gave +20 on an attack.
