My family has tickets to ride the 2:30 train on October 7!! I am proud to say this will be my first ever mainline steam excursion. I am beyond HYPED!!!!!
-
It’s rather ironic, really. Seeing an N&W J where C&O Hudsons, Kanawhas, Greenbriars and Alleghenies once roamed. All the same, it’s nice that 611 now has a place to stretch her legs a bit. Very nicely done with this video, mate.

AWESOME VIDEO!!! AWESOME AUDIO!!! Fantastic! LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THIS VIDEO!
-
Love the “new” whistle. Sounds just like 1994 again
-

Awesome, I'm looking forward to ride on the 9 am excursion with my family on October 7!

I wish Norfolk & Western Class A 1218 was restored and worked on the Virginia Scenic Railway.

I’ve been waiting to see something like this happen for the last 5 years now and it was definitely worth the wait!!!!! While seeing 611 at strasburg was great too it got tired after a year. Still, I hope VMT can continue doing this for the next few years as I’m hoping to attend one myself.

Oh what an incredible video!! Thanks for documenting it!
-
I've been to that area before in 2013, Staunton is where I stayed the night. Really cool to see 611 there! I hope to see her there someday!
-
Oh man, I am so stoked that The Queen can get out and propperly stretch her legs. She deserves to be allowed to run. Beautiful video! I love hearing the radio chatter. Very well done!
-
Awesome video! Nice to see 611 on the mainline again. Hopefully in the near future they can do some day-long excursions between Clifton Forge and Richmond.
-
I’m glad they found an original J-Class whistle for her
-
It was nice seeing the famous Spirit of Roanoke run at her finest without a diesel on the end.
-
Excited for this, gonna ride the morning excursion and then chase and get pics of the afternoon one
-
Amazing video!! Thanks so much for sharing! It's great to see the 611 running again!! 🚂

611 is on the C&O for 614.
-
Sounds like the whistle 611 has been wearing from 1983 and 1994.
-
On the former C&O Rails, now owned by CSX Railroad.
-
N&W should consider having their cars repainted to the same colors as the 611 locomotive.
