  • A few minutes ago I was preparing to go to bed then this video notification came out... So I suppose sleep time can wait

My Jetta TDI used to get crazy-high intake air temperature. Stop-n-go driving in Florida in the summer will do that. I hooked up a scanguage, and could see the intercooler heat-soaking. Sometimes the intake air temperature would reach 80*C! And the engine would get unhappy. So I added an electric fan to the intercooler, with a temperature switch. I set the switch to activate at 50*C. That fixed the problem. The intercooler doesn't heat-soak anymore. And the engine is happy.

The sense of pride you must have driving that car is well deserved. To build something so special with your own brain and hands is not something that many can achieve. Well done bro
  • @Conservator.
It must be a magnificent feeling being able to finally drive your car this way! Congratulations! 👏 Thank you for letting us being part of your journey, such a joy to watch! 🙏

That is some amount of power in a car that’s the size of my shoe! You’ve done an incredible job with it so far.

Real talk your home is beautiful! Everytime you go through the tunnel and then come out with the mtns in the back ground is just beautiful!

Water to air may suit your application in a hot climate for the intercooler, unless you insist on staying air to air and roof mounting it.

🎉 Love seeing these updates! Living the dream man! I found your channel a couple years ago and have learned SO much from your videos, so cool to see how far this project has come! It's so clear in your speech how great this accomplishment feels for you, and as a viewer it's so cool to see that. You're an inspiration, congrats! 🎉
  • That is good news, sir! Glad to hear she’s holding together. She sounds great, too! I get about 15mpg in my MKII MR2 Turbo, as well.

Am addicted to this channel, love from kenya, east Africa, now I want to turbo my Toyota 4AFE

Fun fact: 15.3 is the same number whether you talking mpg or liters/100km. (Same as -40 degrees for C vs. F.)😊 If l/100km goes to half, mpg doubles... 5.1l/100km is 46 mpg, etc.

Great to see you enjoy the car! Bit of finesse work to go from the sounds of things, but keep at it! Air to water intercooler gets my vote for a solution, as I've gone this route on my AW11 project. Pretty sure you've seen that on my instagram or youtube 'channel'. A fan on the intercooler in the interim would help. Getting the air temp sensor mounted up stream in the airflow will also help. Another oddball solution that'd help is a phenolic spacer on the intake manifold. That would help keep excess heat from the head from migrating up into the intake manifold.

so glad to hear it going in right direction 💪🏻💪🏻 i’ve also after 4 years just finished a full race spec fully forged 944 turbo engine build with many mods stand alone and most important a lorry diesel holset hx35 twinscroll and turbo back full exhaust system ,.. all done myself in my single tight garage ,.. and i’m also like you feel beginning to love it …. i had major prob with my turbo drain also as it drains into the oil in the sump and not above oil level on these and on gear change i was getting oil puff of smoke where the vacume scavenging disappeared as i removed the old afm system ect ( long story) have fixed this now through hard work and many many trial and errors in regulating amount of oil going to the turbo feed and midyfying my AOS system to breath out the crank preasure look forward to the next one 👍🏻👍🏻 all the best Daniel

Great stuff again. Having similar problems with IAT's with 13psi. Should have them resolved soon. 'Cool' is my new mantra! Keep up the brilliant vids 👍
