270 km on a Paraglider | Stunning Hyperlapse | Swiss Alps

Must see hyperlapse of a 270 km flat triangle from Niesen via Valais and Luzern and back. Good but humid conditions carried me through the alps. After abandoning plans to fly to Chamonix due to low cloudbase and NW wind, I'm trying to fly all the way to the flatlands before getting stopped by a strong headwind. After returning to Niesen I manage to extend the flight by taking the prealps autobahn to Luzern and back, ultimately landing in to the sunset at Spiez.

Holy shit, I knew paragliders use thermals to get higher, but seeing this time-lapse with orientation always forward I understood the concept a lot more. To witness how you "screw" yourself up, and then glide down again. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing this with us.

10 minutes ago I didn't know you could do that. Now it's my life goal

I've never seen this before. You just travelled 270km, with no motor, in under a day. Absolutely blew my mind. Amazing.

The place markers make it more enjoyable to follow your flight and they are very interesting. Definitely worth the extra time in editing! Thank you for taking us along on your adventures.
  • @schaufuss
The place markers are very helpful, thanks!

I'd love to see a map in the end of the video of where you flew, maybe even overlayed on the swiss topo maps! Or next level would be to have a minimap for the whole timelapse, showing in realtime where you are!

  • Fantastic - thanks for sharing your incredible flying so elegantly and so informatively! I'm learning volumes from your videos - as I expect most people are - and yes, the location and mountain labels are super-useful for visualizing the flight track you take.
