The daughter of legendary crooner Nat King Cole, she earned a degree in child psychology from the University of Massachusetts in 1972. Although uncertain about pursuing a career in entertainment, she accepted a summer job singing with a band and was soon performing regularly. In 1974 she met Chuck Jackson and Marvin Yancy, songwriters and record producers who became frequent collaborators and helped her sign with Capitol Records. A string of rhythm-and-blues albums followed, beginning with her debut album, Inseparable (1975), which earned Cole two Grammy Awards, including one for best new artist. The following year Natalie was released, which went gold and received a Grammy for the hit single “Sophisticated Lady.” Her success continued with Unpredictable (1977) and Thankful (1977), both of which went platinum.

In the early 1980s Cole’s career stalled because of drug problems and a serious throat ailment. She eventually overcame her difficulties, and by the end of the decade she had begun singing more jazz-inspired pop. Her comeback was completed in 1991 with the release of Unforgettable with Love, a double album that featured her father’s classics, including “Smile,” “The Very Thought of You,” and “Mona Lisa.” A commercial and critical success, it was Cole’s first album to reach number one and earned three Grammy Awards. The title track was digitally engineered to simulate a father-and-daughter duet. Later albums include Take a Look (1993), Snowfall on the Sahara (1999), and Ask a Woman Who Knows (2002). She returned to her father’s songbook for Still Unforgettable (2008), a collection of romantic standards that won the Grammy Award for best traditional pop vocal album in 2009. In 2000 her autobiography, Angel on My Shoulder (written with Digby Diehl), was published.

Cole announced in 2008 that she had been diagnosed with hepatitis C, which is a liver disease that is spread through contact with infected blood. Cole attributed having the disease to her past intravenous drug use. Cole explained in 2009 that hepatitis C had "stayed in [her] body for 25 years, and it could still happen to addicts who are fooling around with drugs, especially needles."

Four months after starting treatment for hepatitis C, Cole experienced kidney failure and required dialysis three times a week for nine months. Following her appeal for a kidney on the Larry King Show, she was contacted by the organ procurement agency One Legacy, in May 2009. The facilitated donation came from a family requesting that, if there were a match, their donor's kidney be designated for Cole.

Cole canceled several events in December 2015 due to illness; her last musical performance was a short set of three songs in Manila.[24] She died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on December 31, 2015, at the age of 65. Cole's publicist said the singer's death was the result of congestive heart failure, which her family said was a complication of idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension, which she had been diagnosed with after her kidney transplant in 2009. Her family said in a statement, "Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived... with dignity, strength and honor. Our beloved mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain unforgettable in our hearts forever."

Cole's funeral was held on January 11, 2016, at the West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles. David Foster, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie, Chaka Khan, Eddie Levert, Mary Wilson, Gladys Knight, Ledisi, Jesse Jackson, Angela Bassett, Denise Nicholas, Marla Gibbs, Jackée Harry and Freda Payne were among the mourners at the funeral. After the funeral, she was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Her grave is located in the central lawn area of the 'Court of Freedom' section, Garden of Honor; there is no public access to her grave.

  • Her duet on Unforgettable with her dad is one of my all-time favorite duets. Thanks for allowing us to honor two great singers.
  • The plaque on top of her grave is so beautifully done, like a piece of art.

Thank you Craig for getting Scott in so he is able to share with all of us. Without you both we would never see all these great entertainers, and many others final resting place. You and Scott are both greatly appreciated! Again...thanks guys!!!
  • Her rendition of Unforgettable with her Dad is absolutely beautiful. Both beautiful voices. Rip

Natalie Cole had one of the most beautiful voices and her songs are timeless classics. I was blessed to have seen her in concert in 2000. She was a beautiful woman of great faith and tremendous talent. Thank you Scott and Craig.❤❤❤

Thanks gentlemen for showing us around. "Ramblin' Rose" will remain my favourite of the great man's catalogue of unforgettable songs. Grew up with my dear Mum's love for Nat King Cole and I subsequently became a fan of Natalie - gorgeous woman. Gee she was like her Mum! Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
  • My parents were huge fans of Nat King Cole. I first heard Natalie when I was 10 yrs old on her 1977 hit song "Our Love" (my top favorite). I've been listening to her music for years. Other favorites include: I live for your love, Pink Cadillac, & When I fall in love. I bought her Unforgettable album when it first released & still play it often in the car whenever I drive my elderly parents to places. She is one of my favorite singers of all time. Her voice was so melodic, rich, & smooth as silk (just like her father).

She was just a GEM 💎!! I hope she made her dad proud !! He too was a gem! Once again Scott thank you for such a great video!! I know all the people you’ve made videos on , but even if someone didn’t know them, with the knowledge you give us they would still enjoy all you do! !!
  • You are so right, her version of Unforgettable was inescapable when it released. I was 11 when it came out and it was my first exposure to her and, honestly, Nat's music. In a huge year in music - a time when dance tracks dominated - she took over with a cover of a golden age love song. Iconic.

Loved this Scott, paying respects to the lovely Natalie Cole and her son. Nat King Cole had a voice for all times- noone better, and listening to him brings back memories of my Dad too❤ RIP to the Cole family. And thank you for the Hollywood history, Craig and Scott!
  • Scott you’re the man. You take us places we would have never gone without you. 😊God bless.
  • Poor Craig! You always put him on the spot, but he always comes through with the answers. I also grew up listening to the wonderful Nat King Cole but could not think of that many songs! Only the roasting of the chestnuts song! He truly did have the voice of an angel. Beautiful Natalie was also blessed with a lovely voice. It blew me away to see her father daughter duet. She struggled so in her life. It was devastating when she passed. Two angels together again. Rest in Paradise to you both. Thank you, Scott, really loved this one!
  • Thank you Craig and Scott for this opportunity to see Natalie and Nat King Cole’s grave site. It is a shame that Mr. Jackson didn’t have a headstone, regardless of the things he did in his past. Everyone deserves a marker of some sort on their grave. Love your videos!!! ✌️💕♥️❤️
  • I just loved Natalie Cole. What a talent. Thank you Craig for allowing Scott in & thank you both for showing us her beautiful grave & telling us more about her. What another amazing video, never disappoint Scott, never have & you never will. Please keep me in your thoughts & paraders as I have to get abdominal surgery tomorrow… I’ll be honest I’m nervous about going under but I know everything will be ok😊 You truly are awesome Scott. Not only YouTuber but person.
  • Love them both ❤️ so much. Voices of the angels. Thank you Graig for the information. Great video and looking forward to the next visit. Safe travels ❣️🙏👣🙌❤️

  • For Craig 🙌👍🙌…Thank You for letting Scott in, so we can see Natalie Cole’s final resting place and see the final resting places of her famous family’s loved ones. Just like her beautiful voice she does have a beautiful final resting stone. Nice of Craig to take time out, and show you and us around famous grave sites that we would not be able to normally get in to see.
