I'm Italian American, but recently learned through DNA that I'm also West African, which is pretty cool because my best friend is west African and it turns out there's a pretty good chance were related. That being said, as an American who attempted to look at my own history, a wall of slavery came up which is pretty much impossible to get through. So I have to either go there, which cost a lot, or talk with people, which cost a lot but less. Being west African isn't some walk in the park. It's strange and beautiful. But try learning that almost 100 percent of your family was held captive under slavery and this is why you can't talk to your grandparents. Try that shit.
