Alternate play of After Burner using native PSG sound to compare with previous longplay using FM Synth.
Again we take to the skies with a infinite number of rockets to blast everything in sight. Can be quite difficult which has a lot due to the frame rate. The key to surviving seems to be just constantly shoot and keep spinning to dodge oncoming missiles. -

Some 30 years ago a guy I knew had this and said he'd completed it. I totally didn't believe him. I said: "Oh yeah. what happens at the end then?" and he said: "Oh you get a picture of Tom Cruise" and I thought YEAH RIGHT! So I would like to publically say: If you are reading this, I AM VERY SORRY IAN.

Today’s generation will NEVER know the fun we had playing these. I wish I had the Sega Master System or original Nintendo NES right now during lockdown. I promise this would make quarantine so much better. Lol - Signed 05/06/2020

As far as I can remember, I was amazed by the fact this was the only 4Mb game I had in my SMS collection. I didnt even know what that meant, but for sure it was better than 2 Mb! :-)
-
Lol that pic of Tom Cruise @ the end... Reminds me of Golden Axe on SMS where you have pics of Arnold from Conan movie...

This was my first video game I've played back when I had the SMS for Christmas many years ago.

I can say that this is damn impressive for an SMS, even the music is not bad.
-
The music is deceptively simple. Some nice harmony and chord progressions in the bridge. Something about all this with the sound of the explosions that was hypnotic and beautiful to a 10 year old's mind. My "technique" was mash all the buttons non stop and hope for the best.
-
I remember you could stay in the top left corner and not get hit for 3/4 of the game.
-
We had a SMS at an after school center I used to go to back in the early 90s and I'd rock the shit out of this and Alex Kidd.
-
The Sega Master System was my first consola of games :)

"GET READY"

WoW I still remembre the music 30 years later

This another one of those rare sms gems that I never found for sale locally (except maybe for rental hire) when I got my SMS2 in late 1989 and damn, it's a pretty wild version here. Alot of cut backs but still a big game at 4 mb's and it really keeps the spirit of the arcade original here. I wish I found this when I was 10 but all I ever saw for sms After Burner was the TV ad sigh....

This was a very good port for the 8 Bit, brings back memories

This game was the shi.....! Getting 3 pictures in the end of the finish is no reward for all the nerv crashes!
-
25:30, heard that series of sounds too much when I was little.
-
Master system cool man.
-
It’s probably been said, but if you just hold “Up-Left” you’ll clear all but the final stages. :)
-
people have no idea how fast and responsive this felt back in the days . it was way ahead of its competition if it had any . this and the other one from the sega saturn were the best flight simulator games i ve ever enjoyed .

I got so close to finish in 1991... but after some level you can't just mindless rotate camera, the missiles just hit you. I watched this and I still don't get what I was doing wrong.
