  • "We just passed the 'we love puppies' act that legalizes torture". "You don't hate puppies, do you?"
  • @crow2989
If the government actually wanted to "protect the children", they would release the forbidden list. But they care more about keeping a lease on assets.
  • @shapelessed
The "Earn it" act is literally an equivalent of a mandatory microphone on everybody's neck. End-to-end encryption is an alternative to meeting in person to have a completely private conversation...
  • 'protecting the kids' is just another 'video games cause violence' tier scapegoat but one that actually works unfortunately
  • @hanelyp1
Restricting encryption is part of a broader effort to disarm the peasantry, removing the means to resist tyranny.
  • If we asked George Washington or nearly every president we've had throughout history and told them "is it okay for the government to forcefully gain access to any and all citizen's private conversations or activities?" what would they say? How have we strayed so far away from freedom, privacy, and self-sovereignty? America isn't America anymore.
  • @frogsuit
Why do the politicians only seem to propose laws that they want? I keep being told they represent me but I’ve never been asked a single time if there’s any laws I want voted on.
  • @da_roachdogjr
They've been trying to pull this "think of the children" crap for decades. Its crazy how this excuse is still taken seriously given the lack of evidence to back it up.
  • @vizonex4316
It’s scary what is happening globally. The evil corrupted society wants no privacy or ownership of anything. It makes me sick and it makes me angry.
  • @KO6BXL1
Government: Wants to ban encryption Also government: Uses https on their website
  • @jhonyortiz5
"think of the children" except when they are AT school and might need a free lunch. That's just too much. "Think of the children" except when they keep being 5h00t IN schools. "Think of the children" except when the government allows companies to dump toxic waste in their water. I could keep going, that's the sad part.
  • @MC2738
It’s all fun and games until a bad actor gains access to the said backdoor.
  • Of course, another anti-privacy bill... Thinking of going completely off the grid next year...
  • @WAThomasRKH
Protect children by spying on every communication they make. So that later, they can use everything they did, when they were children against them and push any dissent and wrong thing as early as possible.
  • @MillywiggZ
This seems to be a global thing. In the UK the ‘Online Safety Bill’ is like a turd on a wheel, constantly being discussed but never being put through. You may as well be talking about it! They’re both the same thing. Pretty scary.
  • @SMEARGLEX75
Why is it always the Failed Parents that ruin it for all of us?
  • "This bill revises the federal framework governing the prevention of online sexual exploitation of children" Man, when it starts like that, you know you're about to hear some dystopian shit.
  • A great example of gov not protecting children is the "cash for kids" judge who was taking kick backs to escalate charges against minors to fill detention centers. Law and order SVU even made an episode about it. The episode is called "Crush" and stars... wait for it... Ezra Miller of all people. Ezra miller who held a family with minors hostage and happens to be walking free staring in movies right this second.
  • If the government actually wanted to "protect the children", they wouldn't have let the jeff guy "end" himself.
  • They are voiding the bill of rights as much as they can. Or at least normalizing that you dont have rights when you do.
