  • The thing Quintin Tarantino said at the end of the video really stuck with me: “If you truly love cinema, you can’t help but make a good movie.” This is coming from a guy who never went to film school and who never even considered being a director when he grew up. He was just a normal guy who worked at a local movie store and just loved movies.

Nolans comment of making a short film being harder ive started to also believe is true, in that less frames means they all must matter and be good
  • @Zehahahaa
What Mark Duplass said is possibly the best advice you’ll ever hear as an Independent Filmmaker in this age.

"the thing that deeply moves ne about Cinema is seeing 200 people in the mud under the rain trying to create poetry together" ♥️ Denis Villeneuve

As someone who is just starting to get into filmmaking I found this really inspirational, thanks for creating this!
  • Possibly the best 30mins of filmmaking advice I've witnessed. Great work putting this together. Subscribed!!!👍
  • @DenyefaK
Literally started crying halfway through the video. Starting a YouTube channel soon and this was really inspiring, was really scared but this really makes me want to break down the walls I've created for myself

Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott's advice were the best and they're applicable to game development also. First just look, only pay attention to the picture, then close your eyes and just listen to how nice the movie/game sounds. Two separate disciplines, patience or stamina and required to get both right. Steven Spielberg's advice to study old movies is also good, or paintings.
  • This was brilliant! I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Every director had great advice. I'm learning that we tend to treat filmmaking as an art that should be taken on when inspiration hits, when it's actually a devout practice that requires the commitment of building a career. Thank you for this. ❤🙏
  • @mistahmotion
Thank you for putting this together. I usually never comment on videos but this deserves it. Easily the best compilation of filmmaking advice. Well done
  • Ridley Scott: If you're doing 30-40 takes you don't know what you're doing laughs in Stanley Kubrick
  • Getting the message or visual out there through the actual medium itself is what drives me as I know from an early age when I worked on a radio commercial (30’s) and it aired locally for one whole month. This taught me the value of the medium and the unlimited potential of what I could accomplish.

This has soooo much value ingrained in it ..w/no catchy signup for more for a price tag! I despise that kind of energy; this was exceptional and GREAT content!! Thank you

I'm 42 and a grower, a graduated Greenhouse Technician. But for 20 years i've been crafting this universe i my head. I want to tell my stories. Thanks to modern programs and AI, i'm devoting myself to solely making my movies. Videos like these are great motivation, thank you.
  • @abas1r
I found this totally inspiring, about to solo shoot my second doc over 3 days tomorrow and there were so many great tips and ideas for getting my mindset right.. thank you 🙏🏽
  • @KidxChaos01
Mark duplass’ part at the end is from a really good seminar or idk what else you would call it but a really good speech def worth a watch it’s like an hour long too so they couldn’t fit all the good advice he gave in this video.
