Classic Dutchman. Buys land, immediately builds a dam. Love it

This is how a real life Minecraft would feel like ❤

What is so awesome is that you guys focused on the land and the food first. So many would have sought comfort in a house first, whereas you took your time to understand the land. Then you can finally build a residence that speaks to your symbiotic understanding of your land. Well done! Awesome work!

And here I am, watching this, yearning for existing in this way. And I look back out my window, staring at asphalt, walls and business

You are one of the best homesteaders out there. What an amazing accomplishment you guys have made in just one year.

When I told my friends and co-workers I boght a small house with 1000 m2 land and a well in a tiny village in Alentejo, everybody thought I was insane. Here in Portugal, "land" equals to "slavery" and "poverty". Portuguese people have a very bad relationship with Nature, and probably this trauma is connected to the 40 years of dictatorship we had, and this prejudice is still being reinforced thanks to another kind of new slavery: foreign illegal immigrants. Poverty was so big that everybody abandoned the land and went abroad. I am a portuguese woman and I have a lot of trouble explaining people that owning a tiny piece of land has always been the dream of my life. I'm so glad to see so many foreigners buying land, here. Maybe you people can show my people how Earth, trees and water are such a blessing, and not a punishment. Welcome!

Bless you both for raising your 2 children around the garden, and incorporating them into daily life! I too was extremely fortunate to be raised by parents who encouraged us to be in the garden, and spend as much time together as possible! Your wife and yourself remind me of my own parents, in that they did EVERY project together, no matter how large/small. It was a very important example for my brothers and I, and has helped incorporate such values into our own lives, as well as, those of our families! It’s truly beautiful to see you work so well as a team and family, as you build your dream together! I wish you and your family many joyful memories, and much success in the days and years to come!🇨🇦☺🇨🇦
