Jurassic Park: The Lost World (Arcade) - No Continues - 361,770

Here is my first 1-credit clear on The Lost World: Jurassic Park, a 1997 light gun game by Sega! Played on the Supermodel (Sega Model 3) emulator with a GUN4IR, using default settings.

Based on the movie, The Lost World is extremely hard and often frustrating. The better you play, the faster the dinosaurs move and attack you. Even worse, your gun has a delay in between shots, and you only have 5 bullets instead of 6. This means one missed shot can result in you taking damage.

These quirks make The Lost World one of the hardest 1CCable light gun games I've ever cleared, alongside Gunblade NY. Most of my runs ended in Stage 2.

The scoring strat is to get as many Snipe Shots as possible from headshotting enemies or hitting targets that appear on a boss. Each Snipe Shot is worth more than the previous one; it can be in the thousands. But hit an enemy without a headshot, and the value resets to the minimum.

You also get points from high accuracy. In addition, each time you beat an area or stage on your first credit, you get a 10,000 "1 Coin Bonus", which is pretty neat.

While you can inflict chip damage on bosses, that not only kills your Snipe Shot combo (giving you a measly 10 points instead), but also gives you less targets to shoot for Snipe Shots, as the boss fight will end faster. This is a much "safer" strategy, which I wound up doing here, mainly because this was recorded before I realized the scoring strategy.

There's a few branching paths based on your choices. I deliberately fail some quick time events in Stage 1 and 2 for some higher-scoring detours.

Some people you can rescue, and they award either lives or special weapons. Some of the special weapons are bad because they shoot slower than your default gun and keep you from getting Snipe Shots, so I deliberately don't save two particular people.

I plan to return to this game and try getting a higher-scoring 1CC. For now though, I'm happy that I finally cleared one of the hardest light gun games I've ever played in my life!

Oh, you did it! I agree that this game is one of the hardest to clear (of those that don't seem literally impossible). I can't even imagine trying to go for high scores with the ridiculous accuracy requirements for scoring

Ohhhh, I miss it. When I was a little girl, while my parents were shopping... I used to play... byJapan

At least the Carnotarus theme wasn’t slowed down like most other playthroughs.
  • Comrade, you did it fair, and you did it very well. Congratz. This is a fine master piece gameplay run doing justice for this awesome game that enchanted my childhood. (Top score PED on THE LOST WORLD FLIP Midway Mall 2006-2008 REPORT)
  • I would always play this at the arcade at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.
  • This, House of the Dead and Ocean Hunter were my go to arcades!
  • I can't express on how much I love this Light Gun Rail Shooter!

I don’t have a pc is there any recommendations on devices that can handle model 3 Sega arcade games and games like time crisis 2? I would prefer a plug in play but would like it know.
  • I remember thinking this game was nothing special way back when it was new, but thanks to Raw Thrills we now know exactly how bad a licensed rail shooter can actually be. Also it's the only rail shooter where you get literally sh*t on, so it has that claim to fame I guess. Great run! Keep it up!
  • Hey, a fellow fan of 90s lightgun games. Can I ask what shell (and pedal) are you using with gun4ir? I used to be able to 1cc arcade time crisis 2, vc1 (9999999) and vc2 back in the day so I appreciate the tripple shot finger muscle memory!
  • @17Bane
How can I play this game in emulator?
