Love, love Oscars. Back in my not so smart days of occasionally offering feeders, my Oscar decided he was friends with one. They lived harmoniously and the goldfish grew as large as him. 😅

Every time I see a flowerhorn, I hear in my mind “It’s NOT a Tumah!” ;)

On a side note, female bettas are less prone to mood swings compared to their male counterparts and are fine with other female bettas AS LONG AS THE TANK IS BIG ENOUGH. Those tanks are known as "sorority tanks" when they have multiple female bettas
  • Angels will also eat fish small enough to fit in their mouths... this tends to happen with young neon tetras and adult angelfish. Breeding angelfish are fascinating when you get a pair with the full parental instinct. We had a breeding pair at work, in the plant tank. When I had to reach in to clean the glass or grab a plant and they had eggs, they'd attack my hand, never mind that I'm a scary monster many times their size. They were all 'must protect the eggs!' It was a bit inconvenient, but also quite endearing.

This always happens to new Fish keepers and even Experienced Fish keepers there’s no shame in this mistake

I didn't understand how different and gorgeous Bettas could get until this channel. I just hate that they are little killers cuz in a perfect world I would love to have a rainbow betta tank!
  • My mom set up a marine aquarium, The fish: purple damsel, clown, green spotted puffer and Lionfish. Yep. Lionfish. The damsel went missing, then the clownfish, then the puffer, and Lionfish belly up after eating the GSP.

Awe I have a betta who is kinda scared of my mystery snail. He’s only scared of the antennas and they are in a 10 gallon tank. The mystery snail was with my dwarf gourami but my gourami thought the antennas were snacks so he went with the betta. Also my gourami is scared of Pygmy Corydoras. I think it’s bc he doesn’t like to be touched and the Pygmy’s like to snuggle all fish and plants.

My jardini was legitimately crazy. Bro would jump a full foot out of the tank you attack your hand if you had food anywhere near the top of his tank. He had good aim, too, i might add.
  • As a teen I had a small tank with a variety of small colorful freshwater fish. Then I bought two cute black and white Angel fish. One day I was cleaning the tank when they tried to bite me. They turned so aggressive out of no where. Then I realized they had laid eggs! I was not a breeder and was so surprised!
  • I had a male betta that liked to attack the aquarium thermometer because it was glass and I think he could see a reflection if he was at exactly the right angle. He also displayed threateningly at small snails. Gorgeous fish, but stupidly over-aggressive. When he got older, though, he developed a large tumor and couldn't swim as quickly. He was then a lot less aggressive and not dangerous, and got along fairly well with glowlight tetras and a pygmy cory (there was only one left at the petstore, and I never managed to find schoolmates for him though I tried) in a somewhat larger tank. He didn't like the honey gourami I introduced near the end of his life, but it could easily outswim him and did just fine. None of the other fish picked on him - it was purely a case of picking tankmates he couldn't bully. I'd never have tried the honey gourami when he was young though - he'd probably have killed it, and would definitely have tried. So a lot depends on your betta. If you're going to try somewhat questionable things like I did with the honey gourami, you need to keep a very close eye on the fish, be able to read fish behavior and tell if they're getting stressed or sick, and have a backup plan for if stuff goes wrong. I don't recommend putting male bettas with other fish for beginners, or if you have a healthy young male betta who's aggressive. And really, a gourami in with a male betta is asking for trouble. I tried to divide the tank, but the divider failed to work properly, and then I realized they were actually okay together given how lumbering the betta now was. So I watched carefully, and lo and behold! they were all right.

Honestly, the worst tank murderers I ever had, all at different times were Zebra Danios, Tiger Barbs, and Cardinal Tetras.

Oh boy did you really peg the "angel" fish! I got 5 babies from an aquaintence and new breeder when I was just still pretty new to the hobby (early high school) and those little twerps were awesome until two decided to become a breeding pair. They killed the other 3 one at a time then moved on to my established colony of danios, plattys, etc. and got rid of them. It was cool to see them lay eggs on the rocks and see the newly hatched fry but dang.... Didn't know I was trading a pair of angel fish for my established community tank. Baby angels are beautiful, but nothing remains a baby forever. Lesson learned.

had an opportunity to get 2 baby tropical gar. 10 years, many tank sizes and tankmates later i still wish i would have thought it out a bit more. they are near 3 ft long and extremely aggressive.

I had a 6 inch Pictus catfish. Eats medium size tetras and all food. Had to find a new home for it. Bought it when it was tiny and never imagined that it would be a monster.

I've had 3 Flowerhorns. #1 was a vicious murderer. #2 was the friendliest fish you could imagine. He was huge and shared the tank with 4 Cichlids and always hung out by them. #3 shares his tank with 2 other Cichlids. Keeps to himself but no problems. Seems to work if you raise them together. You never know how it will work out until you try. BTW, they grow real fast, so I recommend you go with a juvenile.

❤had a 220g tank and I had 2 fish in it because anything else was eaten. When they finally passed. My Jardini was 22 in long and my shovel nose cat, I believe it was a planiceps ,gorgeous white/brown modeled appearance was 28in. I either had to feed them pool comets , 3 to 5 in long or 100 feeders. Only 1 a week or so. I got bit by the Jardini every time I took water readings. Great fish but a handful
  • @Gary-zq3pz
I caught a sunfish, about the same size as the lure. I took it home and put in my tank. A few hours later, there was one fish in there...
  • @EasyGrowsIt
Back in the 90’s snakeheads were the most aggressive fish I have ever had!
