5 Quick and Easy Tips for Marooner's Bay that I think will help Freelance shifts A LOT! Let me know if it helped!
  • @rnbrocks187
I have to say people don't give steel eels and fishsticks enough credit. They are dangerous boss's in their own right because they can take up so much room in a stage. Same thing for drizzlers. I swear you could make a video on the most underestimated salmonid bosses.

I appreciate the subtlety of explaining how certain tips aren’t good in all situations, like what you said with overluring. The level of nuance further demonstrates that you know what you are talking about and are experienced.
  • The "Don't over-lure" tip is especially important during high tide where you have very little room and due to the narrow shape Flyfish and Stingers are going to be clear on the opposite side harassing you while you're trying to deal with all the Scrappers, Steel Eels, Maws, Steelheads and Flipper Floppers while said Flyfish and Stingers are protected by a wall of Slammin Lids making approach nearly impossible. Also remember this rotation has a roller so during Glowfly Rush stand just behind the right hand grate and slowly roll forwards as Glowfly Chums have less HP, though just behind the right hand grate is the optimal place for Marooner's Bay Glowfly Rush regardless as it causes all rushing Salmonids to funnel into one direction whereas the very back at the bow causes rushing salmonids to come from the left and right. Edit: Thank for mentioning how nasty Fishsticks are, seriously I feel like most players don't think they're a threat because they don't deal direct damage but they are extremely hazardous as they restrict movement which in Salmon Run is a death sentence.

One thing that Salmon run needs is a recon mode to practice better and learn maps awareness with the high ,normal and low tides without salmonids to pressure you.
  • @jammyman7085
Perhaps a more advanced tip but if your in teams that actively paint elevator walls you can instead hold the propellers to keep them up with weapons like big swig who aren't as good at wall painting can contribute.

The snatcher part is actually tricky to use, either your teammate splat em first, or the most dangerous one is, that you lost control of the basket area first, leaving you no time to splat em when they goes back because you busy to clear the basket area. Lastly, from what I've played all this time, there are seldom basket guard, Marooner especially bad because it can force your teammate split to deal with the bigshot or stingers. I tried to defend the basket but sometimes either my team overwhelmed at the shore, or I cant guard the basket myself.

Been getting pretty frustrated with Salmon Run lately, but listening to your tips gets me in a better headspace and helps me keep my cool. Thanks!

I really like Marooner's Bay. Aesthetically, it looks really cool, what with the large ship being such a prominent feature. Mechanically it feels like there is a lot more depth to Marooner's Bay than the other levels, as you have to balance the drastic height differences between the ship and the surrounding shore and really plan and strategize your route around the level. It feels immensely rewarding to play and do well there.
  • I have some useful tech for this map. It's possible to jump higher than usual while on a rising elevator. This also works with rising Slammin' Lids.

marooner's bay is really a longer way to demote yourself with freelance

Was the first evp 999 I went for (only one i have atm) it took a lot longer since it was my first experience with hazard level max since splatoon 2 once but at the end I was playing really good. One of a kind experience and I now have a cute lil golden boat badge. Dodging stingrays and missles at the very corner near the basket is something else. Whenever I was playing near the 880% hazard and saw someone with a golden badge already, I couldn’t help but think they were a masochist or something. Also played with a lot of Japanese players. They don’t booyah often or say This way when its low tide. Also less frequest squid bagging celebration. There was also one instance I remember when I saw a teammate desperately & greedily hold onto his special to save us. Even when the match was chaotic, he used it at the very end to get as much value out of it as I can remember. I wanna be like him.
  • @NekoHero5095
During high tides, snatchers spawn behind the basket 90% of the time. This means they'll most likely be flying back to the basket for easy golden eggs.
  • @Dreykopff
Good stuff, couldn't have said it better in this short amount of time. For those playing solo Freelance (like me), what I usually try to do is to be so fast and efficient at killing things that my randoms pretty much have no choice but to take those eggs and get them closer to the goal, because there's physically nothing else to do. I value good early-egg collection highly, because when a team does that, a lot less is needed near the end and you might possibly walk away victorious in one of those snowball situations where killing every threat is no longer realistic. Oh, and when they are distracted with eggs, then that often gives me free reign to catch new bosses from the next spawn groups and bring them to basket unnoticed. But low rank is still very hit or miss on this map. I find myself just cycling teams until I find one that shows the right mindset to clear games here. The difference between good teams and bad teams is like night and day.

one thing I think is worth adding on not overluring is on this map only please don't lure a steel eel on unless its early in the wave. Steel eels generally aren't a huge deal when not around the basket but marooner's bay is super narrow, perfect for making steel eels very hard to kill. No need to splat them at shore, but splat them in the center of the map if possible (and if the situation can call for it, the basket but be careful of your teammates) Also drizzlers are worse on marooners bay high tide than any other tide on any map so pay heed to torpedos and prioritize splatting them if nobody else is
  • @HollyWoomy
I didn't even know you could throw golden eggs to the basket from the shore!! This will help a ton! Thankyou so much Haz 💚
  • @unl3ash3d95
Yes perfect timing! I played a little bit of this rotation already and managed to get to 150 but on regular tide I was having trouble meeting egg quota so I put it off until u made a video on this rotation
  • @iris1568
2:14 I used this technique on instinct for a good while now on Marooners Bay. It's good you mention it
  • @GodChaos333
These are really good tips. I’m my 2 of us partners, with two random setup. We get cornered at basket all the time. I will make better effort to hold the middle now. And the snatcher tip I always try to use same with my friend. But the randoms always. ALWAYS. Just shoot them the moment they see them especially on high tide.
  • @kmcsciguy
Thanks for these tips! Also hearing the S2 Now or Never at the end made me smile - ah memories.
