To me the art style of these games are just unparalleled, I know nostalgia plays a big factor but it’s such a good mix of surrealism and Saturday morning cartoon that’s just so pleasing to look at
  • @LeafRazorStorm
I'm still convinced that "Enters the Race" may have began development as a remake of "Joins the Parade."

6:20 I know that “Putt-Putt Verbs the Noun” is supposed to be the blank example of the naming scheme, but that title would’ve been a great name for an English-educational spinoff of Putt-Putt
  • All this brings back good memories. It's just a shame Humongous Entertainment died out the way it did. Oh well, as Dr. Seuss once said: Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Your HE videos are what got me into your channel and style of content, and I still stand by the fact they are the single greatest documentations of Humongous Entertainment, there isn't anything out there like it, and probably won't be forever. The amount of research and dedication in that series clearly shows that you have the talent and aptitude to cover something with spectacular results and it's what makes me a little sad to see your departure from this channel. I can only imagine the toll that covering Backyard Sports took, and quite frankly I think it would have been for the best to stop once HE was dissolved. But you did it, you uncovered and reviewed every single piece of history about Humongous Entertainment and I think that's something to be proud of, even if the end result of that labor didn't quite pan out. Even if I'm just one voice in a sea of many, you did a fantastic job making something special for a game series dear to you, and I'm happy to have been able to witness that journey.

Great video! Here are my takeaways: 1) #15-20 I predicted exactly right. All of them were very well placed. Definitely some twists and turns from there, though. 2) I was shocked with how low Spy Fox 3 was. Felt like it would have been in the top half for sure, maybe only a spot or two lower than Spy Fox 2. 3) On the contrary, Putt-Putt Enters the Race was definitely not something I expected to see in the top half, but maybe that’s just me. 4) Your ranking of the Freddi Fish series shocked me. Sure, you already said that you preferred 1 over 2 and 3 over 4, although I personally disagree with both. But unless I’m forgetting something, I thought for sure that Freddi Fish 5 would be your favorite of the series? Freddi Fish 3 is great and all, but I did not see that one being in the top four coming. 5) The top three. I knew for sure which games would be there, but had the order completely wrong. I thought Pajama Sam 1 was going to take the top spot for sure, then Spy Fox 1, then Pajama Sam 2. Putting Pajama Sam 2 as your #1 overall was quite the twist, and while I wouldn’t do the same I totally respect it. The dialogue in that game is elite, although the setting and general premise of the first game are just unmatched for me.

My parents were so nice to me as a kid, I played a ton of these and they mean a lot to me. I haven't finished this video nor have I revisited these games in 10+ years but I'll give my top 3 beforehand: 1. Pajama Sam: No Need To Hide When It's Dark Outside 2. Spy Fox in Dry Cereal 3. Putt-Putt Travels Through Time Alright hope my childhood taste wasnt bad hahaha
  • @Tourettes0
why didnt they call Peps Birthday Surprise “Putt Putt Plans Peps Party”
  • I wonder if "Pep's Birthday Surprise" could be renamed "Putt-Putt Preps for Pep"?
  • Hey thanks for going to so much trouble to cover all of Humongous Entertainment. It's quite a impressive feat. I've always loved these games and I never get tired of them. Watching your videos has encouraged me to play them all over again. And they are just as fun as before. I've enjoyed watching all your videos and I've managed to get through all of them before the end of 2022 (smashing through the backyard sports retrospective in two days flat!!). Hope you have a awesome New Year's and all the best in 2023!! :D ;) :)
  • This was an incredibly awesome list Shadow Streak! I don't play video games but these were an exception and I'm grateful that this studio was a huge part of my childhood. Thank You for reminding me how much I love these games.
  • @Zaiqahal
I have SO much to watch from you that includes my childhood. I honestly think you're my favorite YouTube channel of all time. I'm sad that I couldn't have found you much sooner. It was only until I randomly searched for a retrospective on Humongous Entertainment that I was finally aware of your existence.
  • @RainbowJemHxC
How I missed this channel. It's been a long time since I visited. I really am thankful to binge watch your series. It was AMAZING.
  • @UltraSilverRaven
I know this is becoming an older video at this point, but I really just wanted to give you a huge, gigantic thank you for making these Humongous Entertainment videos. I genuinely was searching for a loooong time for a channel that did deep dives into even just a couple of the games and to find your channel with videos on every game in every series AND the history of the company AND ranking the best games? Dude just hats off to you in every way. I’ve 100% found one of my new top favorite channels, thank you for what you do 😄
  • @vincent1935
This was a great video and a great retrospective!
  • @Woodswolf
Just found this randomly (the Algorithm has blessed you on this day, may plentiful view-counts be soon to come) and wow is this great. The HE games (at least the subset of the collection I played as a kid) were a huge part of my childhood and all really great. Glad to see the respect for Freddy Fish 3 and 5 (and Chumlet), though I personally would've ranked Pajama Sam 3 way higher solely because its soundtrack is STRAIGHT bangers. If I had to make a tier list (unordered within tiers except S), I'd rank them something like this: S tier: Freddi Fish 3 >= Pajama Sam 1 = Pajama Sam 2 A tier: Freddi Fish 5, Pajama Sam 3, Putt Putt Travels Through Time B tier: Freddi Fish 1, Putt Putt Saves the Zoo C tier: Freddi Fish 2, Freddi Fish 4 Are the first two Pajama Sams objectively better games than Freddi Fish 3? Yeah, probably. But Freddi Fish 3 has always been my favorite simply because the last section in the temple is in my opinion the best and most memorable "final section" out of any of the Freddi Fish games. If the Pajama Sam series had any of those like the Freddi Fish series did, the first two would be literally perfect games. That being said, this video has convinced me to try to track down the Spy Fox series and try those! As should be obvious, I never played any of those as a kid, though I've always wondered what they'd be like - this video just pushed me over the edge into "hm, I should do that maybe sometime soon instead of within the next 50 years".

Thank you very much for bringing me back to my childhood. Hugs from France !
  • @Asaylum117
Some of these games from this list gives me flashbacks of my childhood. I remember playing some of these games on my old friends PC that was located at a farm and the other time I played one of the games on my old potato PC. Good times!
  • @scottleung9587
Outstanding job on capturing the entire HE franchise, Shadow! After I grew out of these, I was afraid it would fall under the radar and into the obscurity abyss forever. Paradoxically though, you breathed new life into all this nostalgia with these retrospectives and I can't thank you enough. Now I have a peace of mind, knowing that I wasn't alone playing these supposedly obscure games by any means. The 5-year-old in me is definitely beaming with joy and excitement!
  • @madyshae7890
I've enjoyed all of these humongos videos so much! Thanks for making them
