Turning raids into iron

Have you too wished your iron farm could be both slower and less automatic?

  • What a wonderful restriction and solution! I especially like the flowchart of item conversion, reminds me of the conversion of stone to glazed terracotta

interestingly, in bedrock edition, mobs that partake in raids (except ravagers i believe) always have an additional loot table consisting of mainly iron gear and armour, as well as things like emeralds. a raid-based iron farm would be far more efficient over there, if raids didn’t happen to be totally broken lol..

I'm playing a survival world where I'm not allowed to use a shield, villager trading, or elytra (when I get there). Makes combat hard again, I can't get later-game items early, and my minecart systems will still be useful! I also said my only transport systems will be boats, saddled pigs, and minecart tracks, but without powered rails (minecart furnaces!). This looks fun, making things the hard/long way can be super fun!

0:24 yeah, it's really quite fun to watch Etho come up with creative solutions to those constraints. Both of y'all are very inspirational

5:43 Well, actually… a soda can does despawn… it just takes 500 years instead of 5 minutes
  • In my skyblock world, I'm using ianxofour Copper farm that use zombies reinforcement mechanic to get iron and gold armor. Pretty cheap to build and gives a decent amount of armor especially if you build it really low in the world. Got my first craft of golden apple and hopper from those armor recycling.

Ah cool I do this too! I generally play as a vegetarian both for the restriction and because I'm veggie in real life, but more than that I can only purposefully hurt hostile and/or undead mobs, so no iron golem farms for me either
  • I love the aesthetic of the build. This has inspired me to build a boat house of sorts. This is also a pretty cool way of getting iron. I like seeing new farms, even if they're not really necessary. It's awesome that Minecraft allows for so much innovation within its confines.

A ladder smelts 1.5 items, and you get 3 ladders per craft, so one craft smelts 4.5 items. A stick smelts 0.5 items, and you spend 7 sticks per craft, so if you didn't craft, 7 sticks would smelt 4.5 items. Thus, crafting ladders doesn't provide any advantage, other than the fact that you can fit three times the fuel into the furnace. Personally, I use bamboo to make all my sticks, rather than wood, but to each his own.
  • Further confirmation that (stacking) raid farms are insanely op. Easier access to redstone is kinda nice because witch farms are annoying to make and mining deepslate sucks but the fast xp, infinite totems (effective immunity from most forms of death), and emeralds (easy access to villager trades which are also insanely op) all from the same low effort farm are just too much. Mad props ianxofour for lowering the time and skill requirements for building farms and making them accessible to the average player but this one in particular really breaks the meta. Undoubtedly the best farm in the game.
  • Man I doubt you would remember but we had once played on a server together, and i ended up subscribing cause your vids seemed so interesting, keep up the good work man everything you do is super cool 😎

dont know if you take suggestions but id love to see a video about minecraft thunderstorms and the chances of them spawning skeleton horses. me and my friends played on a public server one time where it was impossible to get everyone to sleep through the night so it would rain and thunder a lot, and there must of been something going on with the chunk our main base was in because skeleton horses would just constantly show up at that base and only at that base. like we could have started a skeleton horse farm with the rates we were getting. ive always been curious to find out exactly what was going on in the code to make the skeleton horse rate explode like that and you seem like the guy that could answer that for me. by the time me and my friends stopped playing on that server we had over 15 skeleton horses, possibly more i stopped counting at some point lol
  • If youre trying to get more from the axes, you could have a specific direction to toss them from the top where they are collected at the bottom, and toss the trash off in a different direction. It could even be possible to have this run directly into the furnaces.

This world is very interesting. I am qurious to know what other restrictions you have! We'd definitely watch more of this!
  • @Kitana___
    Wow! This seems innefficient! Awesome!
  • @billboein
you could also burn the crossbows to cook some of the iron. 1 bow cooks 1.5 items
  • @vrtr1
you should do a world tour
  • @lewismassie
Not sure of it's a client mod I have but CTRL + click could send the whole stack into the chest rather than double clicking
