  • Each of Sir Terrys books can be read as light, amusing fantasy tales, yet each has a deeper meaningful side. He is a great observer the human condition and reflects so much of their behaviour, rituals, prejudices, foibles, beliefs, and parodies them so brilliantly. The importance Sam places on reading to his son is just one of many examples. Its sad that such genius was lost to the world too soon. RIP

I find these stories wonderfully witty, sarcastic, thought provoking and generally elevated, yet so many I havent yet heard all the way through because the original recordings also help me sleep. Anyone else similar?

This is my favorite book, I can't listen to any discworld audiobook without Nigel planer or Steven Briggs narrating them, they do the voices and they read it so well. This is my comfort novel❤

No matter how often I read or listen there is always something new. Such clever observations of every day life turned into humour. In my top few stories alongside Black Adder and Red Dwarf and Hitchhikers.

Vimes going berserk den screaming his son's nursery story while rampaging is one of da funniest and also oddly wholesome scenes in the discworld books 4 me tbh 🤣

One of the most touching things in this whole story is, the thing that finally got the Dark control over Sam? The moment of rage that finally let it in? That finally made his self-control slip? The Deep-Downers made him miss reading Where's My Cow to his son for the first time since his son was born. And the moment before that where the Dark got closest? When the Deep-Downers attacked his home and threatened his wife and son. He clearly treasures his family more than anything else in his life, more than his life itself.
