My grandmother had this played at her funeral at the end while she was carried out. We started smiling and singing through the tears. Absolutely love this song.

I'm a white guy with long hair. People always assume I'm a metalhead or hard rocker. Nah, this here is my kinda jam.

I still remember the first time I heard this song, it was in the late 70's, I was in boot camp and we were given an afternoon off to relax after training for weeks. A group of us went to a lunchroom on base for beer and pizza, after getting served we went outside where there were a large number of picknick tables, there must have been a couple hundred people there enjoying the nice weather and drinking beer. At one point someone turned on a sound system and Earth Wind and Fire bellowed out this song and September. What I then saw has stayed by me for so many decades, hundreds of men and women, all in green combat fatigues, from all creeds, religions and races dancing, laughing and drinking together, just having fun. This is the way the world is meant to be, I can't understand why it is so messed up now!

As a white guy, one of my best friend and teacher was John Brown, John stood 6' 5" he was a big black man, he taught me so much about life. He was a Vietnam vet who was shot and suffered more than physical injuries. He never cursed and had a brother who was his identical twin, Joe Brown, John Brown I love you and miss your presence in my life, forgive me for not being there for you at the end my friend, I'll always remember you...
