The debate is over, and the focus thus far has been wholly internal. Will he or won’t he. What has not yet been addressed are the geopolitical ramifications from last Thursday’s debate performance. Peter Alexander weighs in and cautions against those in the Think Tank world who are most assuredly preparing papers and talks which will be heavily skewed towards the topic of China. He does, however, make the point that – allies or adversaries – leaders around the globe will now view the Biden Administration as a “lame duck”. This, in turn, will make the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting this week all the more important to monitor.
