I feel like the $250 commission artist got the short end of the stick a little bit, I know it seemed a bit more simple compared to Jazza's, but that interpretation of the direction of "Tarot-style" is totally on point for a lot of the Rider Waite Tarot decks. Some Tarot decks (especially black & white deck) are SUPER detailed, but most are quite minimalistic to give the Reader room for interpretation. The piece they made 100% fits the Tarot-style description

The second artist probably changed his style to fit the "tarot like/old illustration book" idea. The illustration of Jazzs is more visually atractive but the Fiver one stuck better to the prompt.
  • The fact the second artist was able to change their style to fit the prompt speaks of an amazing talent.
  • With the $250 piece, Jazza did a great job, but it didn’t resemble what I commonly view as Tarot card artwork. It upset me to hear that they felt there was a miscommunication with the Fiverr artist, when honestly, the Fiverr artist successfully altered their personal style to fit the requested parameters, whereas Jazza did not. If the commissioner truly just wanted the Fiverr artist’s style to be utilized, that should’ve just been said, instead of requesting a very specific art style like Tarot, which didn’t match Jazza or the Fiverr artist’s usual style at all. Overall, everyone did a great job. Edit: I’m aware that there are different art styles of Tarot, but my opinion doesn’t really alter even when bringing that into consideration. The point is, the Fiverr artist inarguably used one of those art styles, correct? Yes, It is upsetting that it was not the style the commissioner imagined, but as I expressed, I fear there may have been a lack of specification when speaking to the artist (which they seemingly also felt); therefore, I feel it unfair how they spoke of it—just made me a bit upset for him. I think everyone should appreciate how he switched things up to create what he felt was a more accurate representation of tarot than his own personal style could provide. Just like Jazza, that individual seems willing to try new things! As my other comment on this video details, the video simply felt like it was missing the usual informative, constructive-criticism/positive reinforcement atmosphere that I feel Jazza always provides us with!
  • Hearing someone like Jazza talk about the "imposter syndrom" in art is so important to any artist hear, because I think and feel so many of us struggle with it, that it helps seeing this. Thank you Jazza ^-^
  • @Powdah
Top marks to all but would’ve been great to pick artists with a closer style on fiverr Feels a bit like comparing a renaissance painter with an abstract artist.

A blind react and choosing their favorite commissioned piece would have been more authentic and real. Because of course they are gonna lean towards their friend/boss!
  • @paleofemme
I don’t think you gave enough time to showcase your $500 commission- whoever did that is INCREDIBLE. As an artist, I know how much time went into that piece. Bravo, $500 commission!!!
  • @leahgroess5361
The $500 category is really hard to pick between because they're such different styles! I think the choice would ultimately be based on what the purpose of the art was. If it was sort of a reference to look at during the game, I'd say Jazza's because the semi-realism and colors make it easier to picture each character in various scenarios. For just an art piece to display, the Fiverr artist really made something special. The use of different texture techniques and colors for each character make them all stand out, and the shapes used to fill in large areas give a great sense of movement and feeling.

The only issue I take with this is that in all instances, a commissioned piece was done without input along the way from the client. That's something I do constantly when I'm working for commissions. It keeps the client active in deciding what they like or what they don't, and if they have objections they can raise them before additional time and materials are wasted. It's by no means a perfect system, but it's better than just going on blind faith.
  • Jazza should have kept secret the identity of the artist by taking a picture of his artwork and showing all of them on his computer

$25 Commission 1:30 : Jazza's was well drawn and nicely colored. The second artist's was in my opinion even better drawn due to having more gesture in the lines, but no color. The last one was good and still ok for $25. $250 Commission 3:52 : This one is the most controversial. Jazza's was very nice for the most part, but didn't look as "Tarot" as the Fiverr artist's drawing. I'd say I preferred Jazza's drawing, but that is irrelevant because the Fiverr artist stuck to the rules more. They should have understood that. They asked for Tarot, they received Tarot. $500 Commission 8:28 : Jazza really flexed his artistic chops on this one. It was a beauty. HOWEVER, once again, he didn't follow the instructions of the piece as well as the Fiverr artist. He left out the snow and 'spirit of winter' following the elvish woman and the rapier of the 3rd character 'Flint'. So, in a sense, while his artistic skills are still strong, Jazza's "listening" skills are rusty. Maybe he's too used to calling the shots. The Fiverr artist once again, did as instructed and created a beautiful piece in a different style. If I paid $500, I'd want all of the details I requested to be included. Sorry Jazza.
  • @ameookami5661
my only "issue" with Jazza's last piece is that he didn't include the rapier of one of the characters. other than that, he absolutely blew it out of the the park with all of the commissions and he is definitely worthy of being a 500$ commissioning artist.
  • @kirashaw3541
I think I honestly preferred the $250 Fiverr artist more because it was neater and fit the tarot card theme much more by being more 2D. The other ones I preferred Jazza's though.
  • @TheReKinn
I think the best way to do something like this is to have the "commissioner" pick a favorite blindly instead of "Hey, I'm your boss, here's the one I made and here's the other one, what do you think?" I would like to believe Jazza wouldn't be weird about it if someone picked the other art piece, but regardless of how cool a boss you are, you're still a boss and they're still an employee and I feel it would be more difficult to disappoint someone you know than it would be to disappoint a stranger.
  • @EmelieWaldken
The last one, with that tapestry style, seriously had me gasp in awe. This artist's style is INCREDIBLE. Your version Jazza was detailed and vivid and great in many aspects, but I personally prefer less cartoon-like art, less colours, more texture, so that artist's rendition of the 500$ order was right up my alley.
  • @lilbibo1835
I found that the $25 one was to the point and is a bit more then what you paid for (good thing). The $250 has high expectations but you still have to cut corners and some of them are noticeable. The $500 one however has high expectations like the $250 one though it is exicuted at the best of your ability. If I was the costumer I would rather go with the quick, cheap $25 or go all in and get the well exicuted $500. Keep in mind all of this is just my personal preference.
  • @tanmoynair
Jazza showed me such a weird insight into the world of art...how many artists we have that are at an advantage due to their fame rather than their artistic skills. Ofcourse, Jazza is an amazing artist but it really gives us a new perspective towards struggles new artists go through ❤️
  • Jazza missed a big point of the $500 commission. If I has requested the piece, I would have expected full body drawings of the characters and their weapons.
