I NEED a Part 2 where you react to the Team Star leader theme. That track is insane
  • God them sneaking the raid themes into the Sada fight is genius. Without getting into spoilers, the techno music mixed with an eldritch choir monster fight is so perfect
  • Funny detail: Tera Raid and VS-TUROSADA are basically the same song, but with different tempos, modulations, and "instruments". EXAMPLE: 10:52 -> 10:56 is the same as 15:25 -> 15:28, and 10:01 -> 10:07 is the same as 14:21 -> 14:28 THEN AGAIN, we are talking about Toby Fox, and we know he absolutely loves to do this. Personally, I call it, the "Tera Leitmotif".

This def needs a part 2 bc I feel like alot of the truly good themes were missed like team star boss, legendary quartet, nemona, and the academy ace tournament
  • @SnowdropHill
The way the gym battle music transitions into the vocal segment is even cooler in-game. It gives me chills every time.
  • I love the whole end game segment for Scarlet/Violet. The Great Crater theme feels mystically ominous and is like a combination of SMT and Metroid sound styles. Also, the AI professor battle theme is great because it maintains the atmosphere of this unknown crystalline land you've found yourself in while also managing to retain a sense of gravitas and finality.

So much of this soundtrack is practically begging for a marching band, high school or college, to pick up the score and go wild with it. Blending iconic themes with so many stylistic mixups really did a lot for the soundtrack, and it produced a real treat. Also I had no clue Toby Fox had a hand in it, but the second that was called out the influence is very, very clear as he pulls in extremely powerful, high-energy JRPG vibes into a series that was trying to expand its horizons. As always, a real treat and would be stoked for more!

A lot of Scarlet/Violet's music had Toby Fox's hand in it... it's no wonder I instantly fell in love with all of it. <3

the raction to Turo and Sada's beat drop was too funny

You can really tell which songs Toby Fox had a hand in, they all have a unique signature about them (like how you compared the Raid theme to Asgore's theme). I think it's really cool that they invited him to help out again. I didn't make the same connections to the other songs though, but I can definitely hear them now. Thank you for posting these reactions/reviews, they're really insightful! Oh also, my favorite Pokémon is Sneasel/Weavile. When I started the new game, I went straight to the coldest area on the map and stayed there until I caught one. I couldn't start the story without it.
  • OH WAIT THE SADA/TURO THEME IS USING THE TERA RAID FIGHT THEME TOO OMGGG
  • @GamerFromJump
The beginning part of Tera Raid with the bells(?) evokes a “crystalline” feeling appropriate for fighting a Terestal Pokémon.
  • How emotional these songs get shows when you play along with them. I’m always entranced by people’s faces when they practice their craft. Whether it be an instrument or what have you. The focus on what you do with your hands mixing with being carried away by the music..
  • @MrArcadia2009
And especially Area Zero. That music truly blew me away. Toby fox is an amazing musician. This one song is my favorite now, amongst a few others.
  • I never noticed the sada/turo music was a remix of the terra raid theme, that's really cool!
  • @willalexra
Your violin sounds godly combined with the songs... Mad respect.

Hey SPG. I don't know if this is the place to write this, but for most of the last four years, I was in prison. I didn't know of you beforehand, but I got a hold of your Hopes and Dreams cover and was instantly hooked. I bought your entire Undertale album, plus a few other tracks here and there. Your music meant so much to me. For four years, you were a tenuous but important connection to the video game hobby I could no longer access, and it meant the world to me. Thank you for everything you do! ❤️

WHAT A VIBE! right from the start, I loved this marching band style Pokemon theme as you described it! I pictured the Pokemons marching in a parade! Then it became more jazzy and I was like "wow, Pokemon but sophisticated!" I have just played the first ever released Pokemon and it was a blast to see your reaction and listen to this sophisticated Pokemon theme! SPGDance SPGDance awesome video, SPG, great analysis and vibes!
