Sir Keir Starmer has vowed to “tilt Britain back towards the interests of working people” as he delivers a major speech setting out Labour’s stall ahead of the next general election.

The Labour leader will use the speech in Bristol this morning to urge voters to hold on to the “flickering hope that things can be better”.

He tweeted ahead of his address: “I didn’t come into politics to watch the Tories drive the country I love into the rocks of decline.

“I want to tilt Britain back towards the interests of working people. So this year, I ask you to believe in our future again and vote Labour, to change the course of our country.”

Labour said they would increase taxes on the rich. I am hoping for this change from Labour. I don't have any trust in the conservatives. They've had 14 years to fix this. Anyone who thinks giving conservatives another chance by voting Reform UK is wrong.

UK needs to progress. At the moment its slipping into the mire. UK needs Labour party that is united and a strong leader. Mr Starmer does sit well with the needs of the people. Not a great speaker but he needs to be sitting at the top table. Vote Labour. Vote for hope

660 sitting MPs. Why? Many have second jobs, only in it for themselves and using the label of MP to line their own pockets. I’d streamline parliament to just a dozen per political party who are responsible for setting their manifesto, then jail them if they do not deliver.

Excellent content. It would be great to see UK going forwards. Hint less words but more punch #starmer
  • Labour must stop their agenda of preventing essential workers from striking. Instead, they should prevent reasons for striking 1. Pay raises adjusting not to inflation, but cost of living and contribution to society 2. Guaranteed pay for overtime 3. Increasing regulations on health worker exploitation 4. Increase income and property tax on the rich by 1-2%
  • I voted for your party in the local elections and I will definitely vote for your general election.I was prisn

  • Taken out of 'Tory' hands & delivered into the bloodstained hands of a rapidly 'ennobled 'Tony' Blair.
