Putting food on the table is a hassle for so many right now. "It's too high. All those stores are high. It is all the same," said Thelma Robinson. "Everything's expensive. Rent. Everything. Every time with a year pass. That's more high, gas, everything," said Shirley Berrios.

The prices are relatively high at Family Dollar because of the huge theft problem. This is the same reason that the big guys won't come back to these neighborhoods, no matter what the expert is hoping.

If a Dollar Store leaves a area expecting a Super Market chain to fill the gap is not realistic. The main reason the Dollar Store left that area is because their store was losing money due to theft losses.

Inflation is a tax on poor people. Ugh.
  • Why do politicians want dollar stores gone. These discount stores opened it areas that big business didn't want to serve. I live in Rural NY. we have been suffering from lack of businesses serving our communities. Dollar General have saved our communities. Instead of having to drive 40 to 50 miles. I can go to a discount store near me. Between the price of gas and higher cost of merchandise. We need these stores.
  • Some communities tend to have more shoplifters running stores out of business. If people want more opportunities for shopping they should support the stores not steal from them.

Our government is not worried about about the little people our government is about power and money the rich could care less about the poor

I'm sorry big grocery store won't replace closed dollar stores. Dollar store locations are usually in poor high crime areas. You will probably get Hispanic grocery stores

Thank you for everything Dollar Tree and Family Dollar. It always made me happy seeing one of your stores in another city or small town.

What a strange shopping list! 2 liters store brand soda $1.25 but making iced tea is tons cheaper. Who buys brownie mix and kraft mac & cheese? Store brand mac n cheese $1. People need to cook from scratch. 5 pounds potatoes $3.50, 5 pounds frozen generic fries $10. We make it all from scratch
  • Publix isn't more expensive if you know how to shop. They have plenty of new BOGO's (Buy one get one free) every week. You just have to plan meals around what's on sale.

I think they will leave at least one dollar tree store in every city; maybe keep keep a dollar tree store in every small town because ppl living in rural areas would have to travel miles to get to a dollar tree. I don't think they are going to get rid of dollar tree completely just all of the family dollar stores b/c its hasn't been popular in years.

They need to look into getting together and buy bulk. Things like making your own brownie mix. Buy flour and sugar in bulk as a group. It’s more work, but worth it.

A new dollor tree store just opened recently in my city in february

Oh that's sad. I love Dollar Trees and Family Dollar stores--I have a family dollar store close to where I live.
  • @jesto3740
Dollar Tree is primarily closing Family Dollar stores and a token number of Dollar Tree. Dollar General executives were genius in "trying" to take over FD, but DT outbid them. In the end, I think the end game for DT and DG was to actually close FD. I wouldn't be surprised in a few years DD or DG reopen those FD stores under their name.
  • Where the items will go? Nowhere. I don't like to spend more, if I had to. But people are short in stature, just ask for help for the high. Nobody asks for help anymore, that's what happens of short people doesn’t ask for help. What's so wrong for asking for help?

America is in decline. Face it

Like people stealing from certain areas are not going to go other areas and steal…. ☠️
  • @smitty5890
They might be convenient in their locations, but they are not any cheaper. Everything they sell smaller then you get at Winn Dixie or Public's. I think that is the reason the company lost over a billion dollars last year. People are finally figuring that out, i stopped going years ago. They are not offering anyone a bargain, not saving you any money, your paying less for less !
