~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the first video in my new
"Japanese products" documentary series.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A video documenting the full history of the Sony AIBO Entertainment/Companion robot.
The first fully-autonomous robot.

I acknowledge the fact that I did not mention anything about the use of AIBO in the media.

Yes, it has been referenced in many things ranging from books, magazines, news channels, video games, music videos, anime,
TV episodes, movies, etc. In other words, way too many things to feature.
I'd get copyright flags for featuring clips from pretty much any of those, so I'm trying to avoid that as much as possible anyway.

The robot images, commercials or videos used weren't popular enough to be flagged by YouTube.

Also, May 11th marks 20 years of AIBO. Happy birthday to the oldest dog "alive"!

This documentary was made at the end of my 11th grade school-year, but will be used for my 12th grade research project in the school-year to come. Wish me luck!!!

  • You are correct, a swiss army knife robot for programmers and college students. The 1xx and 2xx series were the best, they learned, loaded with ways to program. Sony would never call them dogs, they had no intention of them being dog like. This all changed with the ERS-7, and now the 1000 were its more directed at regular people wanting a robot dog.
  • Great video! I think you did a pretty thorough job of going through Aibo history. If your dog is running Service pack 3 of Mind 3, try running your ERS7 on May 11 and check out what they say! I love it.

    Yay! More posts!!! Make sure to keep me updated!!
  • What about the aibo playstation? not much was know about it, other than it is going to be used to support the ps3 and the psp, but the Playstation line pretty much saved itself with the PS4. so the aibo didn't even made it to prototype stage of development. you can find a picture of it, and you can also get a 3D Model of the robot dog that was never meant to be.

    You lied. The 7 was not the last or the newest. You forgot the 1000. There’s probably more to come after the 1000.
