i use to turn the volume on the tv off and listen to bobby ufer on radio,he was that good.
  • Away games you had no TV; cable didn't exist. I would listen to Ufer call the games while I did my laundry.

I just love Bob Ufer. You got a great game caller and a football history lesson during the broadcast. I also say, how college football has changed over the years. A field goal kicking tee, which is gone today. Field goal soccer kickers who get 57 yards and good and without a tee. Wide open passing and running the ball for touchdowns. Big huge defensive ugly guys you would not want to meet in your home town alley. Damn, I am old guy who was there and watched these games of the 70' , 80' and the 90's, and now into the 21 first century of football. Guess what, Michigan won the big ten twice and now is in the big dance for the national champion ship in 2022. Damn it , Goblue Michigan... Bring on the big ugly 's and lets get ready to RUMBLE, GOBLUJE MICHIGAN !!!!!
  • Everyone loves Bob Ufer. He could get you cheering for Michigan even if you're not a Michigan fan.
  • The good old days, when Michigan actually had a good chance of beating OSU every year! I almost forgot what that feels like - Thanks for a great upload.

College football needs more announcers like this! Not the frauds you find on espn!

1978: One of Bo's greatest squads.

As someone who was 2 months old when this game happened, I never knew how good Rick Leach was. You have to look at it perspective of where the game was at the time and Bo's "way", which to be fair here, he abandoned it early in the 1st to let Rick sling the rock. Its a shame he opted for the MLB, even though as a kid I was a huge Tigers fan before I started to Bleed Maize and Blue, I just really didnt understand back then. Thank you for uploading this, have seen Leachs play over the years in short replays, but to see how good he was in this game, maybe he did make the right choice...I bet dollars to donuts if hed come along 20 years later hes joining the NFL, but then again, 22 years after he graduated Michigan had a QB who couldnt choose between baseball and football, and that QB was the last Michigan QB to win in Columbus until JJ McCarthy ended the losing streak.

“I’m art schlichter and I’ve got Michigan covering”
  • @scootdaws25
I was at the only game that Leach lost to OSU during freshman year.
  • @StFidjnr
On what will be the final game of the 10 year war
  • Where did you find the ABC video feed? I’ve been looking for this full broadcast.

The reality is that MSU was the best team in the Big Ten in '78 and were co-champs. They didn't go because they were on a ridiculously disproportionate probation. That came about because Woody was sore he lost to MSU in '74. MSU smoked Michigan in Ann Arbor in '78. OSU was fortunate the schedule makers didn't pit them against MSU because their passing game would have romped Woody, which would have been very, very sweet.

Rick Leach vs Art Schlichter - no comparison. Woody's last three seasons were pretty bad, and his QB's ended up as convicted felons who did jail time.
