Eric Clapton, one of the world’s pre-eminent blues/rock guitarists, once again summoned an all-star team of six-string heroes for his fifth Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2019. Held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, the two-day concert event raised funds for the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, the chemical dependency treatment and education facility that Clapton founded in 1998.

Lyrics:
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy

All around in my home town
They're trying to track me down
They say they want to bring me in guilty
For the killing of a deputy
For the life of a deputy
But I say

I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy

Sheriff John Brown always hated me
For what I don't know
Every time that I plant a seed
He said, "Kill it before it grows"
He said, "Kill it before it grows"
I say

I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense
I shot the sheriff, and they say it is a capital offense

Freedom came my way one day
And I started out of town
All of a sudden I see sheriff John Brown
Aiming to shoot me down
So I, so I had to shoot him down
I say

I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy

Reflexes got the better of me
And what will be, will be
Every day the bucket goes to the well
But one day the bottom will drop out
Yes, one day the bottom will drop out
But I say

I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy

Saw Clapton two weeks ago. He is now 74 years old, so i went to the concert without having big expectations. Ended up being the best musical experience of my life

This must be one of 10 all time live rock performance—Clapton is gifted... gifted from Heavens!!
  • You can hear Clapton trying to keep the Marley vibe alive in his blues/rock version. Massive props to Eric.

I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
  • The bass line is incredible smood and complex.... just blessed musicians on the stage... BRAVO!!
  • This is a total sleeper. This solo is one of clapton's best. Just love how it goes from mellow in the beginning to intense by the end. People at this show had no idea what was coming.

Nobody talks about the bassist, he is just awesome!. Аж мурашки по коже идут. До чего же шикарное исполнение.

Clapton's dynamics are what makes him so special to me. He has the ability to play with high energy and shred like he's getting paid by the note, but the solo in this track just builds. The way he layers the foundation and builds to the climax is incredible. They'll worship him for his flash, but they'll keep coming back for that technique.

I love the fact that they adequately show the background singers in this video. It's amazing rare, even when their role is very important.

Best version of this he had ever done. I’ve seen him do this 7 times this was best. Great concert, long day.

EC's backup singers are incredible! They elevate this song even further. Best version I've ever heard.
  • Mr. Eric is a legend, but the gentleman is the best bass player I’ve ever heard him playing with. Just WOW!!!

3:25 Clapton hits a flawless stanky leg and is forever etched in the history books as a genre-crossing, supreme talent. What a nasty stanky leg that is, too. God bless us all on this day. One of the best stanky legs I have ever seen.
