After an assassination attempt on his life, Donald Trump is planning to win the race to the White House. Together with JD Vance as his vice presidential nominee, he wants to bring the MAGA movement back into power. On the campaign trail, he is promising that America’s future will be bigger, better and stronger than ever before. In Europe, however, his promises are prompting more concern than delight. Many fear that, if elected, Trump could reduce America’s role in Europe, stop American aid for Ukraine and introduce new tariffs on European products. They worry America First could mean Europe Alone. But there are also those who are rooting for a Trump victory and who see in him an honest peace broker for Ukraine. We travel across the EU to find out how different countries are preparing for a potential second Trump presidency.

  • It was idiotic for Germany to make themselves reliant on USA for security AND reliant on Russia for energy.
  • @oriusnex
The idea that the only problem is Trump is deeply and utterly flawed. The need for EU-level self-reliance has been obvious for decades as the attitude and degeneration of the US has continuously progressed. It is time to admit that there are serious systemic issues which will only keep getting worse regardless.

The EU is so used to being ordered around by the US that they've developed a severe case of learned helplessness.
  • @Superator69
Who cares what Europe is ready for. They need to stop depending on America for their security it's pathetic
  • @DG-ie5ip
Time for financial responsibility "pay your fair share" is what the EU and particularly Germany should soon be thinking at this time ? And soon... no need for explanation.
  • Europe needs to defend itself and invest much more in the militairy so we are no longer relying on the US. That will give us a far better position and safety. We also should start our own militairy industry. not only for cutting costs again also to stop depending on America. Trump showed that we no longer can trust the US.

I like how Europe has to clarify that it isn't a vassel of US. When you have to clarify something like this, isn't it already too late to stand on equal ground?
  • Europe needs to wake up and make sure it can defend itself. Even after president Harris' election.
  • The EU should've had its own independent defence system in place decades ago, but better now than never.
  • @braddavid902
What do Europeans need the US for. They have free healthcare and paid family leave. If anything they need to help us
  • @ArmoredNeko
"wants to challenge his America first approach" "we have to treat him like equal"--What's wrong with these ppl? It's POTUS not their servant ffs.
  • @olga159
To find yourself, think for yourself: By Socrates, this quote suggests that finding oneself is also finding one's independence. Independence and self reliance is not bad thing.
  • The English language is fun. Listen closely to his opening statement and all you need is a piece or two of punctuation. The "rich" will make Americans great again. Wonder what the written speach looked like? He didn't lie.
  • @jibril2950
Looking at the geopolitics of today,we need someone who can make hard and unpopular decisions like trump
  • @vavictus
😂 there must be some Germans with personality that can form a relationship with the Orange guy. Juncker is cool 😎
  • Scholtz is a weak link for Europe. Germany needs a stronger leader like the Baltic states have.
  • Remove the entire government and have a peaceful quality life... St.Thomas
  • @toast0011
America has bought europe over 2 years of assistance with Ukraine, but has Europe used that time wisely to make new ammunition manufacturing plants?
