Late 70s and early 80s arcade games have such a timeless feel.

Bomb Jack is a favorite. My Sony TV is my arcade machine these days and I enjoy Speed Spin, Space Invaders, and Pac-man. I have about 85 games and all the wrestling games were made really well. I managed to download KOF 98 The Slugfest for Android which is a great game.

"Centipede" and "Tempest" came out in 1981. This is important because a lot of people think 1980 from the game copyright date, but they were actually released later.

Awesome compilation! So far, I have three different MAME collections: • On my new Android phone, I got 980+ Japanese & Korean arcade classics (Double Dragon, Marvel vs. Capcom, Metal Slug, Puzzle Bobble, Samurai Spirits, Street Fighter, The King of Fighters, etc.) • On my Android Tablet, I got all the overseas games from mostly the US and some others from European, Australian, and Hispanic nations (720°, Battletoads Arcade, Gauntlet, Golden Tee, Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Smash TV, etc) • On my old Android phone, I got 555+ Golden Age arcade classics below the year 1985 (Space Invaders, Galaxian, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Dig Dug, Karate Dou, Punch-Out!!, etc.)

I feel the early games had more variety in regards to game play, later games seemed to be more variations of a common theme. Bit like today really.
  • @Diegus-
Great video!! Can you make one starting by the end of this video up to date?

You really can see how the creativity and experimentation goes down the gutters around 1986/87 and how formulaic most games were from then on until 3d gave the developers new tools.

Where are "Ms. Pac-Man" (1982), "Defender" (1981), "Star Wars" (1983), "Battlezone"(1980), "Berzerk" (1980), "Spy Hunter" (1983) and the newly added MAME release "Dragon's Lair" (1983)?
