In this Warframe Beginner Guide / Tutorial I am going to tell you which Warframe is the best Starting Warframe.
Excalibur, Volt or Mag? This is the big question which every Warframe player needs to answer when starting the game. But which of these three is the best pick for you personally? By going over the pros and cons of each of the three, we are going to answer this question. We're going to see the game start through the eyes of either of these Frames and then make a decision.

Simple 1. You like speed? = volt 2. You want total control of magnetic fields and strip armor off the flesh of anything that ever existed = mag 3. You want anime sword space ninja = excalibur
  • The best reason to pick Volt as a starter is because he really is a “jack of all trades” frame. Volt gives you an opportunity to see what play style you drift towards then you can shoot for the frames that really excel at that play style.

I think the early-game problems with Mag are a bit overstated. In the early game even without using combos she can wreck hoards of enemies, Excalibur is better against tougher enemies and bosses but Mag is much better against large groups, and as fun as Excalibur's sword is, pulling all the enemies on the map into a giant blob in front of you and finishing them all off with one sword stroke or crushing them all like a Sith lord just never gets old.😎

I chose Volt for 2 reasons: 1- He has straightforward versatility. All of his abilities make sense, have specific uses, and those are fairly intuitive. 2- Most importantly he looked like he would feel most like my Hunter main from Destiny 2.
  • Volts shield is easily the strongest ability when paired with his passive for early game. You can easily turn 100 damage into 1100 damage, paired with the shield if you land a crit that 1100 damage truns into 4400 damage (assuming the weapon has a base 2.0x crit multiplier) Edit: this is only if you are interested in a weapon/ability synergy warframe
  • Excalibur is my favorite, hands down. Volt and mag are both very fun and I have both of their prime versions. But the beautiful simplicity of cutting down enemies with swords and other blades just can’t be beat imo.

I picked volt since I thought there wasn't a cap to his damage increase. But I still don't regret picking him. If I suddenly go, " Hey, I don't want to use my guns," I can just speed into a enemy and bonk. He kinda allows me to switch to whatever I want to do, whenever. Edit: Just started 2 days ago, did not regret me choice.

I chose Excalibur because not only of him being the poster boy, but also the feeling of using a exalted sword is amazing. I will say that if you plan to use one, Excalibur can go with you throughout the ENTIRE game, or until the sacrifice.
  • Mag was my first warframe, and I love her. My most played warframe, even after Umbra. Noone can change my mind.

Mag is by far my favourite frame in the whole game in all honesty. I love using melee and the pull ability is so fun to just watch multiple enemies fly ate and just obliterate them with a melee, I also just love her abilities so much and i don’t find it to hard to learn how to play her

personally , mag seemed like a blessing for me . as it allowed me to just use its abilities of throwing around enemies and a fraggor that hits like a tank to take on higher level enemies , or in situations where i was simply out gunned . a good example of this is when i decided to start the railjack quest and i didnt have any good warframes nor builds at the time the first was easy , the second was a bit tricky but after 2 tries i got it the third one ... was difficult it didnt have much cover and the enemies got stronger overtime + the sentients would realistically drain my entire shield hp pool in a matter of a seconds . so i basically stayed in one room trying my best to stun lock enemies and distract them as much as possible and when a opportunity showed itself i took it rushing out of the room and into the scanning area after approx 30 minutes of doing this i cleared that monster of a mission i believe i wouldnt be able to do that without the help of mags abilities and besides i really adore any support frames that heal or buff and a frame like mag that requires a functioning brain to use properly im not saying excalibur is a brainless warframe its certainly not . But the concept of using a warframe like mag that can give me an opportunity to be creative with my combat , making traps . stunlocking or making combo's with my weapons to push forward i adore that concept also another thing about mag, the energy problem isnt a big deal for me as energy efficiency is a half decent way for me to handle that although i did see an offer to get an aura that passively regenerates energy and i took it i'd say mag is incredibly powerfull if you know how to use her otherwise its gonna be a real pain

I started out with Mag. She was perfect to start out with. Love her so much I'm making Mag Prime rn.
  • When I joined it was way before they had that dope cutscene, I chose Excalibur as well, it’s description said it was balanced and as I had no clue at the time how the game played I chose him as well, I enjoy a balanced build that allows me to play both offensively and defensively, I am now a Nidus/Sevagoth main but Excalibur will always in my eyes be “Ol reliable”

I just started playing, thank you so much on showing me volts game style it definitely matched up to my game style so well.
  • @dorugu
this is a good video iy explains things clearly shows game play from each frame and explains about them and then tells people to choose for them self well done
  • Volt in my eyes is a diverse support frame since he starts off with 2 useful abilities for teams and 2 others for solo damage
  • @Rabbit-vv8ng
I started with Mag and then upgraded to Mag prime before I did the new war. Complicated to use, but once you learn how she works, it's down to muscle memory and becomes automatic
  • @drwhothehell
Mag is my favorite of all the starters, and someone I still play pretty often 3,000 hours later. Love her kit so much. I started the game with her, and made sure to use her prime during my MR30 test to sorta go full circle Finding the synergy of Boltor with her 2 felt so amazing, seeing how it’d grab the bolts just made something click and I fell in love with it
  • @TheHamgamer
Any OGs remember when Loki was the third choice instead of Volt?
