Dr. Nir Barzilai is a geroscientist, Chaired Professor of Medicine and Genetics, and the founder and principal investigator of the Einstein Nathan Shock Center and the Glenn Center for Excellence in Biology of Aging. He also studies families of centenarians that have provided genetic and biological insights on the protection against aging—with several drugs developed based, in part, on these paradigm-changing studies. He is also leading the TAME (Targeting/Taming Aging with Metformin) trial to prove to the FDA that aging can be delayed and to allow for next-generation interventions.

I don't know why we're talking about poor people not being able to exercise or afford it because it's expensive when you can literally just exercise at home and anywhere for free
  • Dr. Hyman I’m so upset hearing this guy push meds rather than taking card of ourselves. Now I know he is saying to keep working out and keep eating a healthy diet. But he makes it sound like by the time we are 65 it doesn’t matter what we have done all the years before to protect our health we are going to get something that’s not good. I’m a health and wellness coach who’s been studying healthy lifestyle for years. This is the interviews that I hear that just puts me over the edge. Here’s what I know. My grandma never took a pill in her life until after my grandfather passed. She was 80 and became very depressed and stopped moving. She developed type 2 diabetes, the meds she took caused problems with lots of her other organs. She spent the next 11 1/2 years very ill, no quality of life, taking 25 pills a day. What I’m saying is one medication leads to more medication. I just feel like this is Big pharma speaking. I’m going to continue eating healthy and moving. This just causes folk to look away from healthy living because they feel it’s to hard and just take pills instead.😱

I do a 16 hour minimum fast everyday. No hunger issues at all. I eat chicken, turkey and seafood. Lots of salads and pasta occasionally. 5’4 116 lbs. My nemesis is salty snacks which I have now completely stopped because my blood pressure was creeping up. A doctor many years ago told me stay away from the three evil powders, flour, sugar, salt. He was ahead of his time!

Eat natural food, don’t smoke or drink, do cardio and lift weights. Avoid prolonged stress and get at least six hours of sleep at night . Simple.

Dr. Nir seems to be aging backwards...looking better and better.

Exciting that scientists agree making strides on understanding aging. It feels like we're on the cusp of being able to control longevity in a more targeted way.

Exercise is a must, because it keeps us in line with what doctors know about everything in our being, use it or lose it. My physician dad and uncles retired in their 80’s. I played them tennis beyond 80.

Em Portugal existe o ditado " mulher doente mulher para sempre". O corpo compensa fraquezas com resistĂȘncias adicionais, como acontece nas deficiĂȘncias.

  • @fluffychenille
Being a diabetic I'd love to know if diabetics have the same benefits taking Metformin as "non-diabetics"??? I take 2000 mgs a day of Mefotmin. I would also like to know what dosage are you suggesting for most people???
