Today, a nice quick little video talking about the Grimsmo Knives Rask v.2, which is a great knife, which is very expensive, but is also doing many things right in a world where lots of things are being done wrong.

I'm proud to be canadien when I see the work of the Grizmo brother and I'm super happy and full of respect to be one of your patreon when you produce a video like that one. Keep up the good work.

A bunch of the things you discuss in the last 10 mins is why I buy and carry CRK as well 👍🏻

Nanuk make a variety of great case in numerous sizes. They offer inner cut outs for both small and large knife collection. From cameras to pistols, they got a case that fits.

The Grimsmos make awesome knives. I love my rask and my saga. I like the older style case where the tool and oil are displayed

On the value front, Rask V2's seem to go around $700 on the secondary market

I absolutely love my#1674 John and his team are definitely amongst the top of the cnc makers.

Good review and insight. I guess there's also Holt Bladeworks and Hog House Knives as well as options with a similar target audience. I gravitate towards Hog House. Anyway, I look forward to your discussion video on the new release / spamming /supply chain ethics video. I suppose the Chinese sourced model has turned the knife market into a fashion statement. (And same with Spyderco and Benchmade to an extent!). But at the same time there's an argument that with so much moving forward in the knife world (new steels, new lock types, open sourcing on long held copyrights), you at least have those companies pushing things forward. Look at the Hogue Deka. Magnacut and crossbar lock with an action you wouldn't have expected 10 years ago. The Miguron Velona giving us so much value in such an affordable package. Or the CJRB Pyrite which took the evolutions around it and gave us what is pretty much already a classic. We're soon going to see an incoming of compression-lock Chinese knives coming on into the market soon. It's 'bad' for the industry and 'bad' for the makers who are forced to resort to efficiencies in supply chain, but 'good' in terms of innovation. If i had a preference, I too however still value the companies like Spartan and Tactile who have stayed true.

Marketing is based on making the customer decide before he has a chance to make an informed decision. The fact that Grimsmo has the confidence in their product to let you take the time to ponder shows that they have great faith in their product. I could not justify the expense of the knives shown today with the exception of the Ontario Rat 1 which is now becoming more of a collectable with the closing of the Ontario company. Something for everybody on this channel!

I love RWL-34/CPM154 so the blade steel choice doesn't bother me; its easily maintained and holds an edge for a decent amount of time. What bothers me most is how much more expensive these knives are than knives of similar quality like Koenig or Oz. I snagged an Arius last year for $750, and it's hard to be convinced that there's relatively $300 more of value in the Rask's design and machine work. But I have a curated link in my email and for some reason it's really hard to not want to pull the trigger on one of these things.

FWIW, OZ Machine Co is making their own bearings now. Only things they don't do in house, I think, are a few blade related things like heat treat, maybe double disk grinding. Other radically transparent makers that I love, besides OZ: McNees, Alex Steingraber (SPK), BP Custom Knives (fixies). I'd love to see you review some of these Nick!

When I first started making knives, I was looking for a benchtop milling machine. I remember Johns video explaining why someone should pay $3000.00 for his modified milling machine. I think it was a Grizzly.

I just ordered my Rask today... I've been on the lottery waiting list FOR YEARS. I've been selected for the Norseman knife about 6 times... this is the one I wanted. I didn't have to think twice about pulling the trigger.. I've wanted it soon after the V1 came out.
