First Look at Montreal’s REM Train!

Published 2020-11-23
On November 16th, 2020, the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) unveiled its first set of automated light-metro vehicles, a variation on the proven Alstom Metropolis platform. I was honored to have been invited to take a first look at this new train at the system's Brossard maintenance and storage facility, ahead of the beginning of its 13-month dynamic testing period. With the system only set to begin operating in 2022, it was truly special to have been among the first outside of REM workers to see this train up close. I can't thank the REM team enough for the opportunity and hope to be able to bring you more related content in the not-to-distant future!

Hype level through the roof, i hope the mr-90s get a good life after these worthy successors take over

I'm surprised they haven't labelled the exo lines as 15 and 13 on the route map, considering that's what the ARTM showcased in their new signage standard

Glad you enjoyed your visit! I look forward to hopping aboard this model train as soon as the pandemic clears up. (-:
  • Very cool, it will be in service in two years and I can’t wait to take a ride in it and explore the whole station and it looks a little bit like the Azur train with the sticker sign in the interior

This will probably open before the damn eglington crosstown in Toronto.

That’s pretty cool! Am just a bit disappointed that it looks smaller than I expected but great video!
  • Thanks for the tour., Ben! I've said it before, and I'll say it again and again. I like the trains in general, but longitudinal seating is a terrible idea. It's really uncomfortable to be sandwiched between strangers, playing dominoes at any sudden stop. I really hope they change the layout and make them more like the new metro trains.

I've never clicked so fast on a notification for one of you video! Awesome video, can't wait to ride in them! Too bad I didn't get invited for the event!
