Firstly great video! Second I used the exact same shimano crank and my chain instantly falls off the front chain ring. I mounted my single chain ring on the inside of the crank like you did to give it the best chain line possible. Weird I used the exact same parts on a marlin 5 gen 2 and it causes the chain to drop off the front within a couple pedal strokes. The only way I can see to make it work is to actually space the front chain ring toward the bottom bracket.

Thanks for this. Do you know if the Shimano FC-M361 175mm 42/32/22 chainring would work if only using for the crank arms? Planning on going with the same chainring as you.

Great video dude and the bike looks sick! I'm probably going to do this mod myself but without the 11speed conversion on the back. Was just wondering how easy it was to do the conversion to 1x on the front and if you needed any weird tools. Or if you have any other tips it would be much appreciated.

I followed this and used the exact same stuff....it aint working wtf. The derailleur wont shift to the lowest 2 gears no matter I do and im frustrated 😑

Hello,bro I have the Trek Marlin 5 2022,I also want to change the 2by8 drive train to 1by 10 Shimano Deore.My question is should I have to change the rear free hub for higher teeth cassette or the 2022variant don't require any hub change to add 10-46T cassette? Please tell

I got the marlin 5 with 2x8 drive train currently in the lowest gear is it a lot easier than the current lowest of 2x8?

Is it possible to only upgrade to a clutch derailleur? I want to stop my chain from flying everywhere but don’t wanna replace everything.

Did you have any issue with noisy derailure when shifted to the highest gear? I think i got everything to your setup and just did mine and angle of the chainring to the largest gear is pretty big angle, is it normal to have it noisy?
