I love that they are making Rita and actual threat. They are keeping so much of what made power rangers iconic while giving us so much more back story into everything. Making Rita actually get her hands dirty is great because that's what a real villain is all about

Actually, the original Rita was played by Machiko Sago, who played her counterpart Bandora in the original Super Sentai.
