  • Tom Bombadil running an airbnb in Rhûn is like Treebeard throwing a rave in Moria
  • Someone once said how funny it would be if Tom Bombadil was played by Jack Black and now I can't get that out of my head.
  • Actually, from what Gandald says of Tom at the Council of Elrond, it implies that he has gone to other places in the world before, but in the Third Age he no longer does so, saying, "And now...": “And now he is withdrawn into a little land, within bounds that he has set, though none can see them, waiting perhaps for a change of days, and he will not step beyond them.’”

Old Tom Bombadil is a serious fellow, dark blue his jacket is, and his boots are brown.
  • His whole character arc is finding boots! That made me laugh so hard 😹😹
  • From FOTR: But I had forgotten Bombadil, if indeed this is still the same that walked the woods and hills long ago, and even then was older than the old. That was not then his name. Iarwain Ben-adar we called him, oldest and fatherless. But many another name he has since been given by other folk: Forn by the Dwarves, Orald by Northern Men, and other names beside.... And now he is withdrawn into a little land, within bounds that he has set, though none can see them, waiting perhaps for a change of days, and he will not step beyond them.’ Tom used to wander farther in previous ages.
  • Tom gives the Stranger, dressed in rags, his blue jacket and brown boots. Tom gets a new wardrobe and bam, blue wizard.

In my opinion Tom doesn’t need to be in a series or movie. We all have our own imagination about him and thats just fine.

So, the same people who decided that Celebrimbor, the greatest craftsman of the First Age, was mystified by the concept of alloys, are tackling Tom Bombadil, the single most enigmatic character in Tolkien's universe? I wonder if Tom will know what wood is.
  • "things are now in motion that cannot be undone" -some guy. (it seemed appropriate)

Why isn't Tom smiling in any of the live action pics?

The poem at the end just sealed it - loved this video! I'm excited (and nervous) to see what they do with Tom. Like many others, he's my absolute favorite character in the whole series, and I definitely want him done justice.
  • - Finally we are getting to meet Merry Tom! Oh, joy! - He’s appearing in Rings Of Power. - Oh. Oh no.

The only man alive who should play Tom Bombadil is Brian Blessed

Tom Bombadil has previously appeared in the 1971 Swedish adaptation, 1991 Soviet adaptation, and 1993 Finnish adaptation. All live action.

"Old Tom Bombadill is a merry fellow: Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow!" Amazon writers: I know we will make him grim and dark, scrawny and angry. Give him a grey jacket to tease that he is what Gandalf will become and give him brown boots to show how much dirt he has walked through!

Tom Bombadil’s a character that’s very close to my heart for reasons not related to anything in the books or movies. A long time ago, back in the nineties, when my family and I went on vacation in Kona, Hawaii, there was a little pizzeria, just across the street from the condo we always stayed at, a Middle Earth-themed joint named Tom Bombadil’s. We used to go there, whenever we were in Kona, though it closed a long time ago (and the owner of it passed away not too long ago as well). So thinking about Tom always gets me nostalgic. Not entirely relevant to the topic at hand…but a fun little bit. Anyone else ever been there?
