Your coffee pot does indeed brew 12 cups. Twelve fluid cups. Fluid ounces measure volume whereas dry ounces measure weight. And no, they never taught us this in Home Ec classes. I figured it out when I too was annoyed by the deception. Really, don't mess with people's coffee! LOL
