Love you guys. No alipay, no WeChat pay, no didi, staying at a hotel in suburban, no idea what food to order, it’s a REAL adventure I am looking forward to unlike any other well planned travellers to China! Kudos to you guys and keep us updated!

China is super convenient once you have installed the right Apps on your mobile phone. Apparently, you hadn't done any homework before going to China, therefore, you were bound to have some initial difficulties/misjudgements. But you are going to be OK anyway.

Chicken, potato, and then chicken and potato. You guys are definitely the connoisseurs in blind ordering.

Okay, FYI, before going to China, the to-do list is as follows: 1) set up your VPN, eSIM, and Alipay. 2) An offline translator in case your Google translator doesn't have a connection. Plan B for 2) Learn Mandarin; one sentence is a must: "Where is the restroom?" trust me, sign language would not work for this question. I knew a woman who tried and failed; people thought she was losing her mind.

    1. In any restaurant say " bu yao la jiao" ( don't add chili ) when ordering, just to make sure. 2. Ask for or order a bowl of rice. Chinese dished are by and large designed to go with rice.

There are 56 ethnic groups in China, and each has its own traditional food. Among them, the Han people generally divide their food into eight major cuisines, each of which has a different flavor and ingredient combination, Sichuan and Hunan cuisine are mainly spicy, the other eight cuisines are not spicy, even southern Jiangsu and Shanghai people like to eat sweet. Your order is Xinjiang food and Sichuan food, more spicy, in addition, can not finish the boss free packing away.😂

Hey friend, you should order a portion of rice. Most Chinese dishes are paired with rice. If you only eat the dishes, the flavor might be a bit strong.😄

Welcome all the friendly foreign friends to set aside all the prejudices brought to you by the media and visit my hometown Beijing.

I am dead, so funny. 😂 Oh dear you ordered Da Pan Ji (大盘鸡)(Big Plate Chicken) although it looked very big I think it is a portion for one. This is a famous dish, I would finish it by myself. The Chinese in China eat a lot, btw. The food you have in UK are mostly Cantonese, but this restaurant is from North/Western of China. Welcome to China - happy exploring.

Wow, you guys just managed to sort everything out after got off the train. Amazing. Good luck!

I can't stop laughing when I saw the second chicken dish..... you proved you really didn't know what you had ordered, but I guess this could become part of good memories in future, we all need something fun to remember, don't we? :)

good job getting a payment app up and running. once you done that, everything else is easy. there's actually translate apps built into those. when you scan the qr code at restaurant tables, the menu loads up and for the payment app you installed, there's a translate option. in most cases, portions in china are pretty big so for 2 people, 2 dishes with some rice on the side should be enough. if you still hungry, plenty of street food snacks to try out lol. google pulled out of china about 15 years ago because it didn't want to put any filters on its products. certain content is banned in china such as adult and violent content, among other things. that's why all of google's subsidiaries don't work in china. apple and microsoft(bing you mentioned) decided to abide by china's laws so you can use their stuff without the need of a vpn.

    你们从首都机场入境,却住在了大兴区,这个位于南五环到南六环之间的城区,距离市中心和各种著名景点实在是太远了。北京市的重心更偏北边和东边,南边和西边往往发展更缓慢一些。

Didi captures audio and video so that if there is any argument between drivers and passengers, there is evidence, protection for both sides.
