I think Matt mentioned the original idea was not only the dark tone, it had more magic and fantasy elements. These were removed due the Loud House success and disney wanted more slice of life style, but Im happy what we got. Its a little sad that Amphibia and The Owl House are probably the last serialized and world building disney shows for a long time. Heck I even remember Star vs Forces of Evil was initially episodic, marco and star would be younger and disney wanted world building and aged up the main characters.

These concepts look pretty good. It could’ve been in the final show itself, because they look pretty awesome, and they could’ve worked well!

Anne's initial design honestly looks a lot better and more interesting and cooler than the one we have now. Although, I do think Sprig looks better in the actual show.

I like the og sprig design, hes cute. Nothing tops the sprig we got, but I wouldn't have been opposed to seeing his design as a background/secondary character

Its always really nice to see more Amphibia stuff from its production phase. I got into Amphibia after the show ended sadly, but my god I'm happy I gave the show a shot. It is my favorite show of all time now, and considering I'm also working on my own show, all the stuff that I've been looking into with Amphibia's production and how it looked like in its early phases has been giving me lots of inspiration for my show! :)

It’s always fascinating seeing old concepts and how different they are to what we got

There was one piece of concept art that showed Anne wearing a similar outfit, only she appeared to be much younger and was barefoot. Looking almost like an island castaway of sorts.

I would have LOVED to see Sprig with a larger arsenal than a wooden slingshot, now we know he has "many" slingshots, but it would have been nice to see him wield a dagger or an axe... Would have set him up for way cooler fight scenes, I did like how he beat Grime by being crafty, but he's pretty swift, and has decent footwork, if he had a real weapon he probably would have had a cooler action dynamic rather than leaning on Anne so much.. also, that spear that hunger games Anne is holding, is dope af lol, you kind of get a feeling that when watching Amphibia, the characters were intended to be older than 13, bc if we want to be even semi realistic in a world of talking frogs, they would be significantly more athletic than human beings, especially human children, and we kind of see them easily overpowered in ways that you wouldn't expect of a middle school cheerleader or tennis player to have the capabilities to defeat a race of beings with that much body mass and natural muscle in their legs and I mean, I thought Anne besting those toads at first was a little far fetched, but I love this show enough to overlook that fact and maybe credit their skill and strengths to their calamity powers.

This is the few reasons why I wish there was a director's cut version of any show or video game

I actually prefer the old art style then the one we have now but honestly im happy for what we got

I loved these concept I saw when Matt post them, I wouldn't mind if that was Anne design at the end, still what we got was pretty wholesome too.

Wow Matt Braly must of worked his ass off with this show. No wonder why it was so good. But if the whole concept or story was similar to the pilot than it woulf be even better

Sprig being voiced by Gideon is something I'd never think I'd hear

Anne's design could be used for a spin off like after a long time, when she forgot everything and now entered the world and nothing is the same (the frog design is also different to match that it isn't the same)

Honestly, I'm still sad the show ended. It's nice to learn more things about the show.

Sprig & Gumball are like my favorite characters 😄
