Whoever designed Dune's 2021 logo should get a raise. Those 4 semi-circles at different angles are just ingenious and I'm surprised it wasn't discovered earlier.

The Villeneuve version is undoubtedly more beautiful, but I respect Lynch for making it in 1984.

Despite all its flaws, Lynch's Dune has a unique dreamlike atmosphere emphasized by the superb Eno and Toto compositions.
  • I think Lynch did a fabulous job, but it would have been impossible to do the original story justice with the available technology at the time. It just wasn't ready to be made.

I just watched the original and really liked it, even though its basically a set up for sequels to come. That being said some of the composite shots from the original are truly breathtaking considering how old they are

If it weren't for Lynch's Dune I might never have been introduced to science fiction books. When I saw it was based on a book I ran to my school library and found a copy. Decades later and it is still one of my favorite books/series.

This made me respect the '84 version 100x more. I'd say it looks amazing for being made 31 years ago!

This... actually gave me a lot more respect for the original Lynch version.

I gotta say Lynch’s cinematography does hold up pretty well.

After almost 40 years, David Lynch's version is still a milestone and still fascinates me. I love Dune from 1984, the cast, the set, the soundtrack, the whole Lynch style. And everything almost without CGI.
  • I wasn’t expecting a comparison like this for at least another day lol. Great work
  • This just shows how amazing the 1984 film is. The costumes are outstanding.

In the 1984 film the cast is amazing. The performance of the actors in the 1984 film is superior comparing to the actors of the 2020 film.I prefer the 1984 film.
  • @Kharmaeleon
Damn the 1984 movie looks incredible considering they didn't have CGI and barely had computers

The new sandworm design is straight up nightmare fuel the way it just sits there is so ominous and it's like you're looking at a living, breathing god , can this movie just PLEASE come out already

I had no single idea of the previous dune film nor the book but oh my i watched the new one in IMAX yesterday and it was phenomenal. It’s epic and visually stunning of a half complete story. Once again Denis Villeneuve and Warner Bros present an amazing film. It’s my best film of 2021 so far. Can’t wait for second installment and yeah WB have basically confirmed the second part.
  • I did loved both version ... loving one version doesn't make the other version bad. We dont have to choose between, we just have to enjoy
