How Can I Experience That I Am Peace Itself?

When we say ‘I Am Peace’ how exactly do we get in touch with that? And since our being pervades all experience, how can we stay in touch with that peace regardless of the content of experience?

Rupert says when you say I am seeing, take the seeing away. What remains? I am. When you say I am hearing, take hearing away. What remains? I am. When you say I am feeling, take the feeling away. What remains? I am. When you remove all experience from yourself, all that remains is simply being. You become aware of yourself as you essentially are and you taste the peace of your true nature.

But you don't have to turn experience off to be aware of being aware just like it's not necessary to turn away from the movie in order to see the screen. You can be aware of yourself either in the presence of experience or in the absence of experience. It's not necessary to get rid of experience, it's just necessary to temporarily turn away from experience back to yourself.

  • When I was young competing with other free divers holding the breath I lost my “consciousness” and spent more than 4 minutes without breathing. Fortunately after a CPR I recovered, but when I opened my eyes for several seconds I could not recognize any body, and couldn’t even knew what was happening. However if in that condition someone would asked me: Do you exist? My answer would be yes. And if then a second question were: How do you know that you exist? My answer would be; I am just conscious of my own existence. For me that was my direct experience of my naked nature: The knowing “I am” and the recognition that this knowing is unlimited and beyond time and space is perfect freedom. That is called: Sat Chit Ananda. Of course there are safer ways to know our naked nature.

The sincerity of the young man asking the questions is beautiful.

I had a very vivid dream once where people were first giving me all kinds of positive attention and the "me" got all inflated. Then it suddenly changed and people were viciously mean and the "me" instantly deflated. Then a voice said "Have no opinions, hold no judgments, therein lies freedom". Instantly it was "I AM", no longer merged with any mind activity. It was like a remembering or waking up. It was just like the sun shining everywhere at once. Total acceptance without judgement. The sun doesn't shine in "good" places and avoid "bad" places, it just shines with no hesitation, no judgement, no divisions. Love, our true nature, what people call "God", is kind of like this. Illumination of ALL.

Even before this heart has beat, before these eyes have opened, before these flowers bloom, There You Are, There I Am

I once meditated on the meaning of the self in the present moment and experienced the silence in the room. It was peace. And in that moment I realized: the silence is the peace, the peace is the self, because nobody told you that. All these things are an expression of your being. And I heard a bird outside, and I liked the sounds, but these sounds are empty in nature, just frequencies, who makes them so beautiful? The self. The mirror. Look at yourself, apart from the stories that the mind creates.

I think the difficulty for many lies in that when asking "am i aware", then being aware of being aware and then stating "i am aware", that moment of turning away from thought and then directly being aware of being aware is so short. It can be mistaken so easily for just an ordinary thought. I find it helpful to put just a little smile on my face during the seeing of "i am aware".It might be a little forced because i don't always feel happy, but when combined with being aware of being aware, it's easier to joyfully stay aware of being aware. If you let yourself, you can really plunge into awareness this way and turn that somewhat forced little smile into a bright big shining smile. But i really understand the frustration with this, i really do. I've struggled for years to "get" this, but that was always because it was too simple and the mind/thought is never simple enough for it, yet it wants to understand this and it can't. You really have to stop at some point and just stay where you already are. Believing one little thought can keep you completely away from seeing it. It's not hard, it's just that we want there to be at least one step. But there isn't. Not even one.

My true nature, peace, becomes crystal clear to “me” when I’m in a disturbing life situation, that prior to me abiding in peace, awareness, would have triggered all sorts of negative reactions, but now there is only peace.
  • It's all totally clear for me. Thank You Rupert. Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Merry Christmas to Myself, the only Self there is... :D

All is ONE - there is not two! But to experience this what do you do? For years I’ve given this lots of thought I’ve listened to speakers, to what they’ve taught. Then something hit me, right in the face, It’s all to do with what we call space! The universe is infinite - goes on forever you see. Hubble and James Watt give us pictures for free. Those photos are magic and pull at the heart Gazing at them is where you should start. There’s planets and stars and galaxies and such But that’s only 5 percent - which isn’t that much. The rest we ignore, which is our big mistake, Because we’re missing 95% of the cake! We all want harmony, oneness and love - The secret’s around us, down here not above! Yes the truth is staring us right in the face To experience ONENESS include the space! So make this your mission - your daily goal And with a permanent smile you’ll truly feel WHOLE!

Peace is contentment. Like sound. A series of impulses. Not possible to be constant
