Theorists, it's been a while since I talked about Genshin Impact and with the 2.5 update there is a new development I think I should cover. We need to talk about Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon of Snezhnaya. Now, we the player have never actually SEEN her, but boy does she hold a lot of implications as to the future of the game's story. Get ready to go DEEP and find out who the real bad guy is and why you may have been fighting the WRONG PERSON this whole time!

  • "Tsaritsa immediately starts giving off some serious Thanos vibes" It's all fun and games until Tsaritsa says "you should've gone for the head".
  • @iamnini-_-1890
La Signora was probably more violent towards Venti because of her own personal hatred towards him. Signora was previously a citizen of Mondstadt, and when her husband died during a battle she blamed Barbatos for it. I know the lore in the crimson witch artefacts are about La Signora.

Fun fact: all archon’s have magic hair. When they use their abilities it glows. If you look at the cutscene when signora takes venti’s gnosis, his hair never glows. Meaning he wanted his gnosis taken. He wasn’t actually being as resistant as it looks, it was an act. He’s secretly rooting for the tsaritsa, like zhongli.

SPOILERS if you haven't finished all of Dain's quests as of 29.06.2022 Khaenri'ah is supposedly the actual last nation we're supposed to visit and it it ABSOLUTELY extremely important to the main story. The Tsarisa might want to rebel against the gods, but Khaenri'ah was a land of vanilla HUMANS that actively rejected the rule of gods and the heavenly principles and it's why it was destroyed, because they kept taking and taking and taking from the gods' domain, presumably inventing technology without permission (Khaenri'ah's war machines), doing immoral alchemy (Rhinedottir's alchemy beasts i.e. "playing god") and harnessing cosmic powers (Dainsleif's "power from beyond") without playing by Heavenly Principle's rules. It's the "Adam and Eve" of Genshin's nations. Literally all of Khaenri'ah's surviving inhabitants were cursed with eternal life and all except Dain, with accelerated soul erosion (overall eternal torment) as a form of punishment (hilihcurls and abyss enemy origins). The "poetic" language sometimes used throughout the game makes the events and philosophies of all parties involved a little cloudy, but if you ever want to make a theory about Khaenri'ah, I suggest starting with Dainsleif. Most of Kaenri'ah's known lore comes from this gorgeous narrator meta-man.
  • Quick correction: Scaramouche actually ran off with the electro gnosis, so the Fatui still only are in control of 3
  • @UrMom-sf6wz
i WISH matpat did more genshin theories because MAAAN genshin has too many secrets, if only matpat wasn’t addicted to fnaf lore
  • @cl0ver_leaf
I wonder if this theory will still work because of Nahida and Scaramouche’s intervention with the gnosis. I wonder if Nahida will give up both the dendro gnosis and the electro gnosis to the fatui because of the leading theory that Celestia is bad and the gods are trying to sever their ties with it. Gods I can’t wait to see how this game goes on!
  • @cavemanjazz1370
btw, The tsaritsa doesn't actually have the electro gnosis. In the roguelike dungeon event we found out that Childe was searching for Scaramouch because he never delivered the gnosis to the tsaritsa

As a loyal Genshin theorist, there are a few things I feel need to be addressed. 1: If you wanna talk about lore, read the manga. In the manga Venti clearly shows some kind of PTSD towards Celestia, no need to theorize. And if Tsaritsa wants to overthrow them she's not exactly the bad guy. 2: Tsaritsa, the way Venti was the god of freedom, used to be a god of love. Venti mentions her change of heart happening 500 years ago, back when the disaster in Khaenri'ah happened. Her relations with Tsaritsa changed a lot since then. Remember that Khaenri'ah wad a godless land. 3: The reason why Signora treats Venti so roughly is far more personal than just "you a lazy god". Signora actually hails from Mondstadt and thus used to be one of his subjects, but left after her beloved Rostam died. She's angry he doesn't even recognize her. 4: Venti was actively trying to stop the Stomterror conflict initially by talking with Dvalin, then giving powers to the Traveler, then trying to soothe the dragon with a holy lyre and eventually helping to take down the dragon himself. Not like he wasn't trying to do anything, as fun-loving as he is
  • Idk if it was in the story quest or if it was a line in one of the "About" character quotes but I heard that Venti hated Celestia bc it was more like a prison and he was enslaved there for a while until he got cased down onto Tyvat.
  • @nik75075
when childe said "it's my duty to see the will of the tsaritsa fulfilled" the text on the bottom said zhongli was talking. Yae Miko handed the gnosis over to save you from a fatui harbinger named Scaramouche. i recommend this game very much, because it's the greatest i've played.
  • @skybattler2624
Mat Pat: Tsaritsa is not the true villain! Other Genshin Lorists: Wow, you are late to the party... but a welcome one for sure.
  • @sunkitti8944
MatPat has finally met his match, the entire Genshin fandom.
  • @TuxVr.
Fun fact: at 12:11, the Ei (The raiden shogun) actually had to give the gnosis to Yae because she was in a realm of her own mind which she couldn’t take her gnosis to, so Ei was just having Yae safe guard it as a friend in the meanwhile
  • Please note and correct me if I'm wrong, but venti and zhongli are by far the oldest 2 archons and are also the only 2 that are from the original set of 7 since the before the archon war. The cryo archon, as mentioned by others, had a clear change of heart and wants Celestia out of the picture so humanity can live without the influence of God's, I'm sure.
  • Correction: The Tsaritsa only has 3 out of 7 Gnosi. One of her Harbingers pocketed it and left all others in the dark (which led fo the Signora confrontation)
  • @alecxander9573
Matpat: Tsaritsa isn't the bad guy! Everyone: we're 4, actually 5 parallel universes ahead of you.
  • @feelsbadman7134
With the newest lore about Gnosises provided by Skirk, this theory really aged like fine wine
  • my personal favorite theory/hc is that the archons weren’t given a choice in the destruction of khaenri’ah. Like, that they were manipulated or controlled to do it, or that their gnosis brainwashes them into following orders (hence the willingness to part with it later). It would also explain why Zhongli can’t talk about it. The idea that he formed a contract to keep quiet in exchange for something (power, safety for Liyue, more control of his personal choice) and that, because of his nature as the god of contracts, he can’t break it. (fun bonus concept: it isnt just that it would go against his principles, i love the idea that he physically can’t. Like, it would hurt him to do so or he literally can’t say the words.)
