You found nikon's menu to be messy? Are you drunk? It can't get any more easy than that. It's literally only the 5 tabs that have the settings that you need to set everything you want.

3 points i would give Nikon as well are : Optical viewfinder : Nikon (Watching threw Lenses and not a screen is way better, just dont look at the sun guys !) Buy second hand : Nikon. Buy new : Sony Wheater sealing, harsh condition : Nikon (not even close) Weight and size : Sony Both systems are great, and after all, they dont matter that much. Only the pictures do. I see alot of wildlife competition winner shooting old nikon camera such as Nikon D3s. Loved the video! Ill jump DLSR Nikon soon ! Have a great time, and dont forget to be creative with your pictures ! Love from switzerland

D780 is unbeatable in terms of Dynamic range and High Iso, check Dpreview charts and you will see that it surpasses any Sony by far.
  • Hearing you say that Sony have easier menus I can’t trust anything that you say lol.

DSLRs are still very relevant, especially with pro work. If you have invested in a system already, there is no need to change to mirrorless. Maybe makes sense for hybrid shooters/videographers and youtubers, or if you want the latest and greatest gadgets. But durability, longevity and dependability are more associated with DSLRs rather than MLCs. Size could be the deciding factor, but fast primes and pro zooms are kinda the same size across all cameras with equal sensor size. I've heard from Sony users about stuck/broken shutter curtains, lockups and various other hardware issues and not so much from Nikon/Canon DSLR guys. Also weather sealing with mid/high end DSLR bodies is still better.

Nikon glass as well is a steal nowadays second hand. No comparison here
  • From my experience of Nikon DSLRs including the D780, they are workhorse cameras. The Sony Mirrorless cameras are well built but not to the standard of any DSLR from Nikon or Canon for that matter. Native lens size comparison from both Sony and Nikon do usually weigh similar in size and weight. For example the Nikon 85mm f1.8 G AF-S and the Sony FE 85mm f1.8 lenses are of similar weight and size.

I’m using ML for work but I really want to own a DSLR again. I miss the chunky mechanical feel of “older” cameras. This D780 is perfect as it has new enough features I could use for work from time to time and in the same time it has full compatibility with af-D lenses which I love. The A7iv though is a compelling option. Totally agree!

Bro I literally thought the usb charging on my D780 was broken until you mentioned that the camera has to be switched OFF. Why didn't anyone else mention that?? LOL

Bro, your videos are top tier! Amazing video as always 📷 vs 📷

I ordered the D780 today and wanted to watch some views on it. Had a D600 and then a D750 back in the day. Thought I'd get the last Nikon DSLR, (I hope it isn't). I have an FE2, 2xF100 and a FA, a couple of D fast prime lenses, three fast prime ais lenses and a fast G prime. I paid £1350 for the body only. I cannot wait. 'Next Day Deal' online if anyone is interested. Loved your comparison video!
  • @ruff1draft
Both the Nikon D780 and Sony A74 are on my shopping list
  • @genin69
Im about to upgrade after shooting D750 for nearly 8 years. great photos btw. def going for the D780
  • Nikon is probably buying its sensors from Sony, so no wonder the color and dynamic range are similar. Comparing the Sony A7sii to D780 is no contest as this Sony is twice the cost. The Sony A74 is closer in cost. I own the D780 and love it, but only do video occasionally. Yes, the Sony has more video features, but the Nikon D780 has enough of them for pro work and it has both flat picture profile or 10 bit N-Log for extending more dynamic range in video. Lots of great features.
  • @realjackiema
Thanks for the comparison! How do you match the colors with the a7siii for interviews?
  • @kuyamanski
thanks for the comparison, this is a very useful video... but I was wondering if you used preset for the color grading of D780.. the color is wonderful! if it's not can you share it for us.. I've been using D780 for about 2yrs but I didn't get the stunning color output like this.
