July 18, 2021 marked the 40th anniversary of thrash metal pioneers ANTHRAX. The celebration began in May of last year and culminated on July 16/17 with a global Livestream event shot at the Los Angeles soundstage/studio The Den.
For two-plus hours, Anthrax performed an extensive set of hits and deep cuts pulled from their vast catalog. Today, Anthrax announces that the entire performance, plus never-before-seen rehearsal footage and Scott Ian’s New York City “walking tour,” pointing out the spots that played a role in Anthrax’s formation and history, will be released in North America on July 15 on Blu-Ray and Digital (Megaforce).
“Anthrax XL" will also have a European Digital release on July 15 (Nuclear Blast), followed by a Blu-Ray release later this year.

I think it’s about time we recognized Charlie as one of the of the greatest metal drummers of all time.

Chuck D and Anthrax is the ultimate proof that it doesn't matter who you are, where you grew up, or what color your skin is-we can ALL get along and bang heads together. Plus it just gives me a happy feeling knowing they're friends. The mutual respect and love they have for one another is just adorable. Thanks for being one of my all-time favorite thrash bands and Hip-Hop artists from the very beginning. I was 7 when I heard my first Anthrax and Public Enemy songs. I'm so grateful for all the decades of inspiration.

I was a teenager when this track first dropped. What an amazing time to be alive.
-
Damn, you can tell Chuck is 100% focused on delivering the rhymes. Fucking beast.
-
Legend has it that the drummer is still getting wicked
-
Forget the labels, music is music. This is a real friendship and I'm so happy to see Anthrax and Chuck D still getting together to perform this classic.
-
Damn, Charlie is killing it - he's better now than ever.
-
These 80s Thrash bands are just getting better and better with age. They absolutely nailed this. Better than the original! Long Live Thrash!! ❤️🤘🏻
-
I love seeing Frankie mouthing the words along with Chuck D.
-
Just listening to this really makes you feel like you're playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 again.
-
I listened to this all those years ago and loved it. I can't believe that after all this time the guys (Anthrax and D) rock harder than ever, just like my kids can't believe that I'm 54 and still listening to harder music than ever.
-
Anthrax stronger than ever 41 years on. Fact.
-
the original version got me into Anthrax, and Anthrax got me into metal. This was a real treat, and it's great to see the band still going strong.
-
This sounds angrier and more impactful than the original. Carries more clout. Love it!

I was a kid when this came out...I already LOVED Public Enemy and Anthrax...but when they got together and did this it literally blew my mind....it was on repeat in my house for god knows how long (back then it meant rewinding the tape over and over) LMAO! Im 44 now and STILL rock out to it...it's certified classic!
-
Scott's tone is absolutely sick! Ripping that groove.
-
I feel like ever since worship music came out Anthrax has been tighter and heavier than ever their guitar tones and sound is just massive which makes this that much better!
-
probably the best recorded version of that track, ever
-
When Anthrax plays, my soul just shines. Thank you for the music, guys.

As a child of the MTV generation who loved Hip Hop and Metal equally I felt like this song was made for me when it dropped. It changed my life.
