Very simple homemade variable capacitor design suitable for use, for example, for tuning in amateur radio. I just used a piece of wood as base, 2 plates of aluminium from a beer can, a plate of plastic, a line and 3 screws. Actually this one measured a range from 49 to 70pf. I don't took any calculations to get a desired capacitance range as this was just for an experiment and it really works.
