Starfield vs Fallout 4: A Patch Isn't Gonna Cut It - Nick's Notebook

Publicado 2024-05-06
Playing Fallout 4 made me realise that despite Starfield's incoming 60fps May update, its long-term success is in BIG trouble unless they do something drastic.

I still hope they'll fix all issues and build up on the lore, I really want it to work

I stand by the opinion that the Creation engine forced Bethesda to overly compromise their vision. Too many loading screens and too many technical limitations. I agree that a handful of better crafted planets would have been not only better from a discovery perspective, but also would have limited exposure to the glaring weaknesses of the engine.

I was playing starfield... I walked around, saw a coffee cup on a table, shot at it. The cup did not move, and the NPC's didn't even blink. In that moment, the game was dead to me.

dont know if fallout 4 had a patch in the past week or so, but on series X i have 0 frame drops even in boston , when the update was new my frame rate was choppy in boston- and im using mods too for graphic improvements

FO4 is in the Commonwealth: limited number of creatures and foes and friends. I've played for years and find new ways to play and try to rebuild the Commonwealth, with MODs I change the environment and even if I don't change outcomes I enjoy spending time there. Starfield is a hundred times larger, but why should I care?

A lot of your FO4 footage was missing the metal effect,...there is a mod fix for this, on PC anyway,..."vanilla Cubemap Fix". This will make sure that cubemaps are restored when you are using modded textures as well as the vanilla bug.

Ill be honest, fallout the tv show had me reinstall all three of the big Bethesda rpg franchises. I didn't regret Fallout 4 for 1 second, one of my most played games of all time, i adore it. Skyrim i have 500 hours in and never finished thanks to mods so my first vanilla playthrough is going great, so good! Starfield....is really struggling to hold me at all

i didnt waste money on Starfield. And i had to uninstall Fallout 4 until Bethesda stops putting out pointless "update patches" that break the Script Extender. So i went back to New Vegas, Skyrim, and Fallout 3. That last one due to the fact i found a mod that lets me complete the game by siding with the Enclave.

I think Starfield is screwed. Todd Howard sounds pretty proud of it. So, that tells me they'll just fill the game with expansions.

My final starfield opinions go like this, as a mega fan of fallout and skyrim: The music and atmosphere are amazing, couldn't be much better Gunplay is so well done, when you raid a ship or base the combo of great physics and great feeling weapons makes it tense and rewarding, getting a headshot seeing the dude realistically ragdoll and seeing the pretty well painted bloodstain on the wall behind is head is fantastically fun for your immersion. Ship Combat is passible if a little thin. Ship customisation is amazing, genuinely top tier. Companions are well written and just fun to be around Style and design are top tier. Open world is.....not so open and really boring The main story is not grabbing my attention at all The enemies are all copy paste raiders with no variety Planets are genuinely barren. It does so much right and falters on the few things that should have been the pillars
  • It’s called there is no sense of adventure it’s all just a menu and loading screens there’s no advanced way of travel

In my game Noir Penthouse has invisible walls.

Elite dengerous/X4 player here. Also have 500 hurs in F04. From the intro, game engine and loading screens made me refund reight away. Bathesda hasn't evolved on from 2010. The novelty of open world games has worn off. T

The best thing about Starfield is the extra good looking Xbox controller I got
  • @gutz4garterz735
Starfield is empty nothing to do nothing to like upgrade ships you can't fly settlements you can't grow ...
  • @daywaster1382
I'm telling you now. BGS will try to sell the moding tools for Starfield. Ppl want these tools more than the DLC, So you will be able to purchase the tool kit from the Creation Club for Starfield. The FO4 update was useless on PC.
