Most were quick to declare the Resident Evil 4 Remake a masterpiece of modern gaming that surpasses the original in just about every way. I merely think it's great, which means I hate it.

  • TL;DR - Great game, good remake, I prefer the original. I hope at least some of you actually watched the video before hitting dislike 💙 If you'd like to see more of my content, here's the Critical Nobody playlist - bit.ly/2M3r65U

One thing I love about this one that is Cap doesn't try to replace REmake in place of OG by pulling OG out of the shop like other publishers......
  • @Epsilon889
Salazar still being highly allergic to eggs and rockets is still funny

One thing I really related admired about OG Leon was his ability to make jokes in the face of death. I didn't have social media at that time (thankfully) so my views on him were not influenced by anything and were my own. I compared Leon as a MC to the MCs of previous games I played like Prince of Persia and God of War. One has the power to control time and the other is a fucking god. Unlike them, Leon was a normal human being but the enemies he had to fight were not. One of the aspects I find most appealing about his character is his ability to maintain a sense of humor and crack jokes, even when faced with the most gruesome and monstrous creatures. It's almost surreal to witness a normal human being like Leon boldly stand his ground and use witty remarks in the face of these merciless monsters who are clearly bent on domination and fear. Leon's quick wit send a powerful message – that he refuses to be cowed by the horrors that surround him. It's as if he's asserting his own strength and resilience in the face of adversity, letting these creatures know that he won't be easily intimidated. This aspect of his character is not just admirable, but it also adds a layer of complexity to his persona. By responding to terror with humor, Leon seems to be not only defying the monsters, but also coping with the surreal and nightmarish situation he's thrust into. In a way, Leon's humorous demeanor becomes a coping mechanism, a way for him to retain his sanity amidst the chaos. It's as if he's telling both himself and the monsters that he won't let fear dictate his actions. This unique trait not only showcases his mental fortitude, but also highlights his ability to find a glimmer of humanity and light even in the darkest of situations. I fucking love Leon's skill for cracking jokes in the face of death. It really shows off his resilience, determination, and strength of character, making him an absolute badass

Original RE4 was something that completely changed my mindset of what i was supposed to be expecting of 3rd person shooters at the time or even all AAA titles. The combat, graphics, animations, qtc and etc. This game pioneered so many things’s that are being exploited up to this date.
  • @BorsPepsi
THANK YOU. finally someone points out Ashley wasn't bad at all in the original, and i 100% agree with you about the stagger. The stagger on hardcore and professional is fucking ridiculous.
  • @aumialumi
The first time I played the remake, I immediately used the tactic 'fake run' only to realise it didn't work anymore,😂 And yeah I agree with Ashley being not glued to you, I had lots of game over just by trying to save her
  • @ExcitedAlex
Agree with you on the Stagger part for enemies. Occurred enough times I flat out ditch aiming to stagger. And just aim to kill.
  • Best fucking review omfg, that Ashley section made me so happy, when i watched faze jev play this game and talk about "how bad Ashley was in the original " it annoyed the hell out of me, im glad somone understands that if u think Ashleys ai was bad in the original, u literally just sucked at the game, the new Ashleys ai is so much worse in comparison 💀
  • @SushiReversed
iirc, all the charm drops are seed-based, so you can look through a table and figure out which ones will drop when, based on the first few you pull. It's probably built this way to prevent save-scumming for a guaranteed Striker charm.
  • @RexVergstrong
I said this a dozen times. Remake Krauser sounds like someone trying to sound tough instead of sounding tough.
  • @Tobinator127
I hate scripted flashlights, I'm glad someone has said it! If I'm playing in a bright room, I want to be able to see what I'm doing
  • @musicotaku666
WHY does everyone forget how much cut of the Castelsections are before arriving to Ramon and the whole RUINS/Tomb area?
  • @leinad2934
This is like the 12th review of RE4R I've watched and it's crazy that I agree with every single point you laid out here.
  • @gek1915
The only thing I did not like in the game is Leon moving like a slug while enemies move in fast forward.
  • @WeRtheHelp
20:30 Thank god someone said it! I absolutely adore the new voice for the merchant, but god did it become so grating as he talked on and on. I feel like newer games think dead air makes the game too "video gamey" like they want characters to feel real so they pumped them with voice lines. I get it, an NPC standing around only speaking when you select something is "unrealistic" but its sure isn't immersive having the other side of the coin. Love the video overall, and I share practically every sentiment! Quality stuff, dude.

I think the best thing about the remake is that if you don't like it as much you can easily go back and play the original. I wish more games were preserved like OG RE4.
  • @MetalThornTree
In the remake, by the time I finished the castle I was done with it. The cuts they made took away a lot of variety that broke the game up, whether you liked the cut parts or not. By the time I got to the island I was too bored to continue going through the same repetitive mob wave section after mob wave section. A side from the odd mine cart section it was very straight forward wash and repeat.
