  • I don’t personally wear reps but gotta say retail pairs aren’t even all that great sometimes with all the QC issues. A lot of the times you have glue stains, marks and creasing on your shoes as if they were used and already worn by someone else 🤦‍♂️
  • @juno4433
Brands and resellers have made it so difficult to get regular shoes, people have little to no choice but to get quality "reps" if they want the shoe. No one is paying over retail or 3x the price. Especially with everything else in life skyrocketing in price. Also, there is no sneaker culture, it's more of a community.

Fresh off a FSR episode straight to Complex Sneakers Podcast
  • The sneaker game is out of control even if you don’t want to buy reps you got companies like stockX and resale shops selling reps for authentic prices
  • @NeuXNeumann
Hearing these sneaker retail stories while driving home from my sneaker retail job makes me laugh at how much the retail game hasn't changed at all 😂. Need to see that selling challenge I need some selling tips from Welty

i’m 40 now. i remember i had a teacher in 7th grade who always had something to say since i had multiple sneakers and a sneaker rotation. since i kept them so clean, she always thought i had new sneakers on. people always have something to say about my love for sneakers.

There are so many nice models that are sitting (for way under retail on most resale sites even) that nobody bats an eye for. What most people seem to forget is that some of todays grails were sitting or were on sale too, back in the day, that later became grails. I dont need to buy the fake Travis for todays hype when i can just buy multiple pairs of tomorrow's grails. I just started this year geting back into sneakers and i already got a W on 2 out of 4 on the Snkrs app and 0 out of 1 on the Nike app. And while it was a bit of a let down when i took an L it made me appreciate the ones i got even more.
  • Got rained out at work. Been diligently checking my complex subscription on YouTube for the upload

It’s interesting to see how their communities view on sneaker culture back in the day. Im 34 & grew up in PG county, MD and sneaker culture was always a thing. There was always a competition to see who had the dopest sneaker rotation.

I Was messing around with my shoes redoing laces and just looking at them yesterday...My wife looks at me crazy and said you and your shoes...Every1 has a hobby or stuff they like and is into. Sneakers just happens to be mine....I'm 42 and doubt I ever stop I love shoes man
  • Working at footlocker during highschool was the best job ive ever had. Loved hearing JLP and Welty talk about working at a retail sneaker store at the end 😂
  • I don’t wear reps.. but I’m not mad at anyone who does. Do what makes you happy
  • @Ghostmanetx
Many people just buy reps because they want to make their outfits stand out better. They don’t care about sneaker culture/ being a sneaker head, they genuinely just enjoy the uniqueness of Jordan’s, Dunks, etc.
  • My guess about the Adidas and Ye deal, if it actually is a thing, is that Adidas owns the rights to the models, but all the stock they got now probably has the Yeezy branding on them. Because of that they have to make a deal with Ye to be able to sell that remaining stock. A talking point for you guys too could be what potential you think the Adidas x Bad Bunny deal has. I think Adidas should prioritize that deal more than they do know, since all the models, including the new Campus, are great designs that completely changes the original silhouettes
  • We are buying reps because Nike and Jordan brand dont make enough of their shoes and then it gets botted up and then resold 10x the price. THATS WHY.
  • @Sneakahead555
I love how quick y’all jumped right into it ! Sneaker game proper ! As a collector that’s been in the game for awhile, at this point I just feel people are going to buy reps either way ! I love the retail therapy conversation man ! Pure nostalgia Such a beautiful episode guys !
  • Oh man the whole conversation about holes in the wall gave me retail flashbacks. Wealty on the assistant manager close to store manager open had me feeling a type of way haha
  • @jaybird634
Love the show gentlemen ! God bless the sneaker culture !
