This is what it looks like to spend a few hours on a simple but all homemade lunch on the farm making everything (except the fish themselves) from scratch.

I was craving grilled cheese sandwiches but also wanted to add some roasted vegetables and of course, that homemade mozzarella cheese, fresh baked bread and real butter from our very own milk cows.

The girls helped me make the cheese and everything came together very nicely at the end, although Fran wasn't expecting to see a whole fish on the plate! Everyone enjoyed digging into this meal!

Enjoy!

SHARING OUR DREAM WITH YOU

This channel is all about the adventures, hard work, and farm lifestyle chosen by two city kids who wanted live the dream of modern farming, while preserving the quality of life found in traditional home cooking and living off the land.

Nestled in the fertile, mountain valleys of Utah, Ballerina Farm is named after Hannah, a former Miss New York City and graduate of the Juilliard School of Dance. Daniel is a history major and now holds his MBA to guide the ever-growing business. The children are wild, hardworking, and homeschooled by their mother as they learn to farm, rodeo, dance, and grow barefoot and free.

I’m 71. Born in 1953. This is how my mother was. She cooked for 8 of us. Five kids, Grandma (mom’s mother lived with us) and herself and dad. Dad hunted small game and fished with his brothers and when his sons grew, he took and taught them. 8 of us in a three bedroom, one bathroom home. It was great…mom had a garden too and grew lots of veggies, and dad planted a fruit tree when each of us were born. I was the cherry tree, two apples and two pears and raspberry bushes and strawberries in summer. Mom preserved it all. Pies, jelly’s, syrups….it was nice….i have fond memories and watching you it’s like playback…❤

Enjoying your role as a mother is just as important as making all the food. It infuses the whole atmosphere for the kids subconscious. 🎉 Nice work!

Your lovely videos are a little like a walk down memory lane for this old farmer. I loved my beautiful house cows and my working steers. I did love making the butter and yogurt. I also loved my gardens. I wasn't well versed in cheese making, though if I had more time I would get another cow and try it. I have a special love for when you make the sourdough bread as it was something my mom and I did together. May your comforting household be blessed with joyous noise❣
