“Pride of a nation, a beast made of steel” Every time I listen to this part I get chills and goosebumps

I first played sabaton's "The Last Stand" In the car as joke saying it was "Christian music" And my mom unironically liked it. She's now asking me play more sabaton in the car.

Remember, those brave men and women, those who manned the guns, those who worked the directors. But what of the engineers? Those men deep in the bowels of every great ship, who have the slightest chance of escape. On Titanic, everyone remembers the band, who played until they were dragged under, but what of the engineers, the stokers and the firemen, who kept the boilers lit, the generators turning, and the lights on? Those men who stayed at their post, all the way to the sea floor. The band plays until the end, but what of the men, who kept the lights on? I beg of you, remember the engineers, the stokers, the oilers and firemen. Remember those, of all nations, who keep the lights on.
  • Imagine being at sea and thick fog descends upon our ship. Then suddenly seeing the Bismarck as a Ghost Ship, passing through it. Clocking on 30 knots and you're standing on deck Port side. Remember, he was the same size as the Titanic but a little shorter. There it is! On lookers see him and begin to panic but then, a voice is heard yelling, It's the Bismarck! Everyone knows it's impossible seeing him, crashing through the swelling sea. Yet there he is smashing and lfting over the waves, blasting this very song. Ghosts still on duty and as the massive beast passes by like a silent steel monster. We all Salute and the Crew salute right back!

The hunt for the Bismarck is a truly incredible story. Note: as a Brit, I am absurdly biased. On the 21st of May, Bismarck sunk HMS Hood by detonating the ammo with a single shell. The armour was known to be pitiful, but was accepted as the cost for the speed and firepower she had. Hood's partner ship, Prince of Wales, managed to escape after sustaining seven hits from Bismarck, and dealing two in return, injuring or killing all but two of Prince of Wales' bridge crew. Prince of Wales had managed to deal two impressive blows. the first flooded a generator room, forcing a boiler to be shut down. the second cut clean through the bow, flooding the fuel compartments there and losing 1000 tons of fuel after that, it was personal. Bismarck was going to sink. the sinking of HMS Hood could not be tolerated. Bismarck had to try and find a friendly port for repairs and refuelling. HMS Renown, Sheffield, and Ark Royal were tracking Bismarck with radar. by nightfall, Bismarck was able to break the radar tracking, she couldn't be followed. Morning of May 26, Bismarck is spotted again. only Force H stands between Bismarck and the safety of Occupied France. HMS Ark Royal deploys the Fairey Swordfish bombers to slow Bismarck, and the bombers mistakenly attack HMS Sheffield, yet she is undamaged due to the unreliable magnetic torpedoes. after 7 PM, and the bombers were rearmed, 15 of them are sent after the Bismarck. swapping over to the older contact detonators, was able to make contact. one did little damage, the other penetrated the stern, and jammed the rudder. Bismarck is now doomed. slowed to an agonisingly slow speed, Bismarck is now forced towards the British Home Fleet. she is on borrowed time. Tuesday, 27th May 1941. HMS King George V and HMS Rodney, followed by Norfolk and Dorsetshire, come within sight of Bismarck. Rodney fires first, followed by King George V, then Bismarck. Rodney destroys two of Bismarck's turrets. another round disabled Gunnery Control. the British ships inch closer, taking out gun after gun. firing almost 3000 shells at the floating fortress. Bismarck was unable to shoot her attackers, at all. whilst the the British ships did take damage, it was from shooting so much so quickly they were shaking themselves to pieces from the recoil, beams splitting, rivets coming loose, and leaks forming. finally, after an hour and a half, the British guns also fell silent. HMS Dorsetshire is ordered to sink Bismarck with torpedoes, and Admiral Tovey sets a course for home in the end, the sinking of Bismarck was so crippling to the German's that Bismarck's sister ship, Tirpitz, never dared face the navy, spending most of the war hiding in a fjord in Norway. HMS Hood was avenged.
  • Here are the Lyrics of Bismarck Sabaton From the mist, a shape, a ship, is taking form And the silence of the sea is about to drift into a storm Sign of power, show of force Raise the anchor, battleship's plotting its course Pride of a nation, a beast made of steel Bismarck in motion, king of the ocean He was made to rule the waves across the seven seas To lead the war machine To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine The terror of the seas The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine Two thousand men, and fifty thousand tons of steel Set the course for the Atlantic with the Allies on their heel Firepower, firefight Battle Stations, keep the targets steady in sight Into formation, the hunt has begun Death and damnation, the fleet is coming He was made to rule the waves across the seven seas To lead the war machine To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine The terror of the seas The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine At the bottom of the ocean, the depths of the abyss They are bound by iron and blood The flagship of the navy, the terror on the seas His guns have gone silent at last Pride of a nation, a beast made of steel Bismarck in motion, king of the ocean He was made to rule the waves across the seven seas To lead the war machine To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine The terror of the seas The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine To lead the war machine Rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine The terror of the seas Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine To lead the war machine Rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine The terror of the seas Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine
  • During the hunt for the Bismarck, the Polish destroyer OPR Piorun spotted the battleship, sending the simple message "I am Pole" to her before immediately opening fire.
  • Me first time hearing this: boring Me second time hearing this: why not? Me third time hearing this: 2000 MEN AND 50,000 TONNES OF STEEL
  • Bismarck weighed 41700 tonnes when empty and 50,300 tonnes when fully loaded. It had 2200 men onboard. Again, Sabaton amazes us with their accurate depiction of historical facts. Keep in mind, whatever difference there is in the lyrics, it is only to make it rhyme and not distort historical facts. Way to go, Sabaton! :-)

The official video has enough clix and enough metal to build the real Bismarck
  • @Tigerman4545
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this might be one of if not the best song Sabaton has ever released.
