At the 2024 Spring Commencement Ceremonies at Clark Atlanta University, 30-year African American Studies Professor Dr. Daniel Black delivered one of the most compelling addresses ever. It was part sermon, part challenge and part affirmation. He referenced the Bible right along with Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Bossman DLo. It encapsulated everything about the HBCU culture, wrapped into an electric delivery to the graduating class, their friends and family, and alums.

They don’t ever need another celebrity speaker again. Dr. Black has set a new standard in commencement speaking.
  • Lord I didn't graduate from there, but this brother's message wasn't just for them it was for all of US BLACK FOLK! I feel so inspired!!!

I am a 1984 graduate of Morehouse College. I was honored to have President Biden speak at our Commencement. Having the World's attention on us and hearing our name mentioned over and over. The commencement speak was a campaign speech. Not really for us but look at what I have done. Dr. Daniel Black I am Honored to hear your speech and Envious. We didn't have you. Your speech was spoken directly to the Graduates of CAU and to future CAU students. Your speech spoke as to why we need HBCU Schools. They are not like us. They don't talk like us, and sho as Hell don't encourage like you. Your speech had me feeling like I was in Church. I involuntarily shouted out Hell Yeah!!! I am a dentist and my staff came a running. What!!? Only thing I could say was truth is being spread like seeds. Dr. Black your words Encouraged, Uplifted, Motivated, and Inspired. Here They Come World. Congratulation to My Fellow AUC Brothers and Sisters. Let Your Light Shine

I’m a 1994 graduate of Howard University. Nobody and I mean nobody knows us like us. Dr. Black’s speech was relevant and inspiring. It spoke to the deepest part of all of us who had the honor and gift of matriculating through a HBCU. My skin felt like it was dancing from beginning to end. His speech is relevant for new grads and previous ones. This is the standard!
  • This wasn't just the best HBCU Commencement speech, it was THEE BEST Commencement Speech!!!!!
  • @TirraOmilade
Give that man a raise! He just created your next recruitment video, CAU!!
  • @tversaricks8250
This is what you get when an alumnus who pours himself into the students daily is the commencement speaker. They ain't like us, Dr. Black, they ain't like us!

If Harriet Tubman ran to freedom…you can run towards your destiny! 🎉
  • @bjanell399
This is what you get when the graduates are involved in the selection of the speaker, Dr Black's oratory excellence.❤❤
  • Every graduate should be required to hear this over & over & over. SPREAD the WORD.
  • @larryhayes1446
I graduated from Virginia State University in 1984 , but after hearing Dr. BLACK, I feel like I graduated this past weekend. Well done , Sir
  • @OneBrighDay
My son just graduated from CAU, Summa Cum Laude btw, yes I’m proud. But this brother put in work; this was what a commencement speech should be.
  • @earlcoleman1244
Did what a commencement speaker is supposed to do. Concise, impactful, culturally relevant to his target audience (the graduates), thematic, complimentary and motivational. I have ears on the ground there and some people were not pleased with the choice. Looking for a national celebrity or someone that ranks higher on instagram. They made the right damn choice. In house, home-grown, proud alumnae and unapologetic....... HIGHLY qualified to speak to black graduates. Job well done!!!!!!!!!

The Souls of Black Folks. Thank you for delivering the Word Dr. Black.
