My headcanon: Rani is right. The Doctor comes back for one last trip with Sarah Jane. But it isn't 10 or 11. It's the Curator

So nice that the cast got together to do this, it's like the finale we never had

My GOD....Russel T Davies has NOT lost his touch. That man can pack more real emotion into a ten minute raw piece like this than most fully-produced hour-long television shows. The BBC would do well to bring him in for scripts in the modern era of Doctor Who.

Sarah Jane never died, like Rani said, she’s out there travelling time and space with the doctor.
  • Sarah Jane was probably the most iconic companion to this day, she was truly the most faithful companion to the timelord known as The Doctor she was well loved by the cast and crew and I loved meeting her once and I’m glad to of met her, somebody so caring and so wise rest in peace Elisabeth you are missed indeed.
  • I broke when Tommy Knight had a picture of him and Elizabeth Sladden in the background.

It might seem silly, but I've never truly gotten over her loss. Even now, after all these years, my mind occasionally turns to Elizabeth Sladen and I remember and my heart breaks a little. Goodbye............ our Sarah Jane.

This was the most fitting ending for the quintessential Doctor Who companion. My first memory of Sarah Jane Smith was watching 'The Ark in Space'. My Mum & Dad bought it for me for Christmas, and it was the very first Doctor Who I ever watched. Immediately, I fell in love with the show and that was largely to down to her and her legendary dynamic with my personal favourite Doctor, Tom Baker. I had also watched The Sarah Jane Adventures religiously every autumn that it was broadcast on CBBC; quite possibly the best show on CBBC. Hearing about Elisabeth Sladen’s death really affected me when I first heard the news. A character that I really adored, a part of my childhood, was suddenly gone. Elisabeth Sladen had so much more to give as Sarah Jane, and if she was still around with us today, not only would The Sarah Jane Adventures still be continuing to this day, she would've most likely have been in the 50th Anniversary special and had a few good adventures with the Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctors. It’s heartbreaking that Sladen never got to continue that journey with Sarah Jane as she meant a lot to so many people. She’s the reason why many kids grew up to be fans of Doctor Who. It was such a great part of my childhood that I will forever cherish. She will never be forgotten and I genuinely hope more people and generations will discover Sarah Jane and grow to love her in the same way we did as children. #FarewellSarahJane

“The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it’s a world or a relationship, everything has its time. And everything ends.” - Our Sarah Jane Smith

I’d like to believe there is a picture of Sarah Jane in the National gallery that the humble curator put up and that he passes by everyday and which makes him smile.

This song is ending but the story never ends Elisabeth Sladen was taken much to soon she had so much life to live and lived what she was given until the very end Farewell Elisabeth Sladen miss Sarah Jane Smith you are loved and missed a very talented actress and the most loyal companion to ever grace the TARDIS to a life well lived R.I.P February 1 1946 - April 19 2011

Before David Tennant regenerated in 'The End of Time: Part 2' 10 years ago, Russell T. Davies had the opportunity to have his FINAL say on the show. To say what meant the most to him. And the last lines of dialogue of the Russell T. Davies era are; "This song is ending, but the story never ends." "I don't want to go" The last line is heart-breaking, but the one before?...I don't think it was until this touching tribute that I TRULY understand what Russell meant by that. Because the world of 'Doctor Who' is a massive, complex, insane family. A family that's always growing and its legacy is passed on all through our lives. And even though Elisabeth Sladen may be gone, her legacy and her story NEVER ends.

"Don't forget me." Oh, Elisabeth. No one's going to forget you ❤️
  • I like to think the Doctor did come to Sarah Jane's funeral. A random woman, standing in the corner, no one knows who she is but she watches and a tear rolls down her cheek and she whispers "Goodbye... My Sarah Jane" before leaving without anyone noticing. Because no matter how much it hurts I don't think the Doctor would miss it for the world.

”Impressively, you have accessed the Holy Grail. You may make one wish.” “Give Luke his own show.” ”Wait - What did y-” “You heard what I said.”

I will never forget the day that Elizabeth Sladen died she will forever be our Sarah Jane
  • @lukeogregory
Luke has a picture of him and Sarah in the back and I just can’t anymore.
  • Only managed to bring myself to watch this today. It's been 11, nearly 12 years since she passed, and I've held off watching the SJA series 5, and then this, because then it really would be the end of the story. Sarah Jane was a role model to me when I was growing up, watching her adventures with the Doctor on PBS. She was still a role model all through SJA when I watched it in my late 20s/early 30s. Elisabeth Sladen brought such life to Sarah Jane that I was afraid of ever meeting her at a convention, even though I desperately wanted to (and never got the chance), because I knew I'd be that weird lady who, despite being good with other actors and separating actors from roles, would just be, "Oh my gosh, you're Sarah Jane Smith. Did you know you're Sarah Jane Smith?" and entirely tongue-tied. But, as she said years ago, "Everything has its time and everything ends". So today, a week before Christmas, I decided I needed to see the end. And I'm still crying as I type. This was the goodbye Sarah Jane deserved, with all her friends celebrating how wonderful she was. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this (not that you'll ever see this comment). Thank you all so much for honoring Elisabeth Sladen and Sarah Jane this way.
